It’s great, but I do not want to sign in

The reason why I don’t wanna sign in is because I do not want to give away my information to someone that I’m not sure if I trust or not

NOT PRIVATE, DEVS HAVE FULL ACCESS TO USER INFORMATION BUYER BEWARE

The “private” peer-to-peer marketing is a complete falsehood. While I was intoxicated, I foolishly changed my username to a slur. I’m not proud of it, but I was extremely drunk at the time. Regardless, when I changed it, somehow, one of the developers, Lucas, was alerted to the name change and accessed my so-called “private peer-to-peer” radio server. He informed me that if I didn’t change the name immediately, I would be banned. If this were truly peer-to-peer and private, they would never have been alerted to the name changes and would never have been able to send me that message. He deleted the post within a minute as well (I wonder why…). This is a blatant lie on the part of the developers, and I will report this to Apple. To the developers, I implore you: DO NOT market this as private and then be able to view and collect data. That is the antithesis of peer-to-peer, let alone private.

Response from developer

As I explained in my email response to you, I'd like to clarify how Macrowave works since there seems to be confusion about what "peer-to-peer" and "private" mean in this context. Like any P2P system (including torrents), Macrowave uses public trackers to connect peers. We only collect the public-facing metadata necessary for the system to function: your username and station name, which form your shareable URL. This is publicly visible information that anyone can see when you share your link. As I mentioned in my email, we don't monitor or collect your broadcast content. Your audio streams remain private between you and your listeners. We contacted you specifically about your username and station name containing racial slurs – not because we were monitoring your broadcasts, but because this publicly visible information violated our community standards. To be clear: we didn't ban you. We asked you to change the offensive username. Going forward, we're implementing a word filter to prevent this situation. The peer-to-peer architecture means your audio content is never stored on our servers. The "private" in our marketing refers to your broadcast content, not the public metadata required for P2P discovery. This is standard for all P2P systems. I hope this clarifies things. If you have further questions, you're welcome to continue our email conversation.

Great

I like this idea and how it’s being executed.

This should not be a paid app.

P2P means no servers required. This is just a frontend then. This should not be paid, and having the audacity to make it a subscription based app makes it worse. You have no reason to make it paid.

Can't get it to work at all serious performance issues

Paid for a subscription to find that this software not only doesn't work, but it bogs down my entire computer after trying to use it until I restart and remove permissions. I have a fully loaded Mac Studio and this program starts to rainbow wheel any app that I open after it (including itself), prevents me from even pressing play on any source I try it out, etc etc it just doesn't work. Devs please let me know if there's something I'm missing here. I'm on Sonoma 14.7.7 and have given the correct permissions in system settings.

Hi Andy, I'm truly sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with Macrowave. I strive to create a seamless experience for my users, and it's clear that I’ve missed the mark for you. I appreciate you mentioning the specifics, as this helps me address the problem more effectively. We didn’t experience the issues you are describing yet, even on low-end Macs, so I think this might be a combination of Macrowave and another app you are using. Let’s get this resolved. Please reach out to me at xoxo@lucas.love. I’ll guide you through troubleshooting and ensure that everything is functioning as it should. Thank you for your patience and for bringing this to my attention. Best regards, Lucas

Where’s the streams?

Looks cool but no repository of public streams so its useless…

Response from developer

Hi Ricky, Thank you for your feedback. Macrowave focuses on providing a private and secure P2P radio experience, tailored to personal connections rather than public streams. We value your input and encourage you to explore creating your own unique broadcasts. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need assistance. We are here to help! Best regards, Lucas

EDIT: Works like a charm!

Originally gave a two star rating because the app just would not work. Reached out to the developer and got it working in 10 seconds. You HAVE to give it microphone permissions in order for the app to work. Thanks again Lucas!

Beautiful, but doesn’t work.

Looked like a neat little app, beautifully designed but it throws an error and I confirmed that no one else can hear my system audio.

Gorgeous, Useless Waste of Space

The design of this app is incredible, clearly great thought was put into it. Unfortunately it is completely useless without a subscription, meaning you install the app, Ooh and Ahhh at the buttons, and then immediately delete it because you don’t want to spend $40 a year to do something that could be better accomplished with Discord or a myriad of other free apps.

Simple, Easy and Beautiful!

Love it.

ui so good

I can't belive the details in the ui. It feels amazing and it's just an app.

Really fun music experience

Log in and follow people’s live music feed. Like being there in person as they switch the song. Really sweet community feel
