Reporting a technical issue

I’m not sure where else to report this. I figured if I left a review someone from the developing team would read it. I keep getting this error message that says I can’t access the lessons because I’m offline. But I’m not offline. I updated the app, updated my phone, paid for a subscription, and still nothing. My iPhone is on version 18.7.1 . Is the app no longer compatible with newer iPhone updates?

The app has been offline

I bought a subscription on Sunday but the app has been offline ever since. None of the lessons is available.

No longer active

This app is no longer working. It used to be brilliant. But since it was Play Magnus Group was acquired by chess.com nothing has been done with it. The lessons on this app were better than anything chess.com offered. Shame, and considering cancelling my chess.com subscription as well, as I think their behaviour in this regard is disgusting.

Best chess app on the market

I love this app. I just started playing chess at a middle age about 3 months ago and I found all other chess apps not nearly as thorough as this app for education only. As a student, this app was more than amazing and it had a great mix of additional options separate from the main studying path as you progressed so you can choose what to study. The best part about this app is that Magnus Carlsen is the one speaking to you. He goes through his personal battles in chess and it really felt like he was the mentor in all the learning. I felt like I was able to get a one on one with Magnus Carlsen.

I found the history so interesting and you can tell that an insane amount of time went into this app from Magnus Carlsen himself. Thank you for all the details! This app has so many other pros, but I’m not trying to make this too lengthy.

Unfortunately I think the app is being shut down because right now and every device I use, the application is telling me I’m offline. I’m not offline I think the application is:( so please if you are watching this Magnus Carlsen please don’t let your work go offline! This app is so good! I am using the Magnus Carlsen 1 app that is very similar to this one but this app provides better games for learning the patterns and it’s just a cleaner app. I still appreciate the other app too so please don’t shut down both apps. I need one of them for at least another year if I’m to get good!

Not working claiming it’s not connected to the Internet

This was a fantastic app really good for my son who is learning to play chess really challenging and love how the lessons build up upon each other. Unfortunately the app has just stopped working claiming that it’s not connected to the Internet when it blatantly is I think probably because it hasn’t had an update in two years that would explain it.

Thanks!

This app isn’t bad, but I loved Play Magnus and Magnus Chess Trainer. What I particularly like about this app though is the Tactics Frenzy. Thanks! I will play all three!

A bit puzzled

I don’t see much of a reason for a second. The first had amazing Ui which I think is missing in this second app, which is a bit confusing seeing as a second should be better than the first. Other than that I suppose the lessons are equal quality and the games are cool.

Mind Mirage

I really valued mind mirage in the original app…. Why did you guys take out mind mirage?!?!

I like this app

I didn’t use the old version, so maybe I’m missing something, but this app is very accessible and easy to use.

Incredible chess trainer for the value!

Feels like magnus actually wrote the lessons himself which im sure he did. Happy customer here!

Slow as a turtle

The app takes forever to load, needs internet connection for some reason if you’re not already in middle of a lesson. If I come back to the app a bit late, I have to go through the whole menu again, which again remember is very slow. That’s enough friction to not make me want to use it.

King issues

So you know the King Sprint yeah? So I can do it but I couldn’t get 3 stars. I couldn’t find any more orbs. Is this a bug or am I dumb? I clearly do NOT see any more orbs. The best I’ve got was 53 ;-;

Divide and destroy

Chesscom bought play Magnus and Magnus trainer only to remove them from the App Store, and replace them with their own garbage. Congrats, chesscom, you managed to ruin something as valuable as the age old game of chess.

A step backward

A step backward from the original Magnus Trainer app, which offered in-depth, helpful training without a lot of time-wasting graphics, dialogue boxes, and childish games only tangentially related to real-world chess applications.

Pay to win

It looks good, is good etc but now instead of the token system it is pay to win. Now you have to pay to get the full app, when otherwise you could just get good at chess like this app is for.

Training style not good

The app has a lot of good subjects but the delivery style is very heavy with guess the move in every pages making the courses hard to remember or to memorize. I wish it could be better. So I canceled my subscription

Better than the previous version?

Please explain how this app is better than the previous version.

Bug

When I play Chess Sprint, for some pieces like the Knight, once you collect 20 orbs, even though there are 45 on the level, it says you collected all orbs. Meanwhile, for the King and Pawn, when you collect absolutely every orb on the map (a very small map, mind you), it says you only collected 1/4 of the orbs on the map.

I’m sad that the tokens are gone

The lessons are very useful well-organized.
Before the update, when I need to learn something, I can just repeat some lessons for token and get the lesson I need after that. This partly means that I can learn them for free, and understandably, the devs cannot willingly happy with that. Now there are many lessons that I can’t get, partly because I’m a student and obviously I do not have a credit card or some thing like that. However, the devs are still nice that they still give me access to the lesson I’ve got previously. Thanks for that.

New Price System Should Have Been Announced

Paid about 20 dollars for the premium content when it was on a coin system. Would have been better if those who already paid got to keep purchased lessons
