LOVE THIS APP

Yes, it costs $7 per month, but it’s incredibly cute and aesthetically pleasing with its beautiful tiles. It’s also a great way to practice. You’ll likely pay more than that per game at a studio. This app is fantastic! There are no ads, and you get to play a full game, including the Charleston.

Great game

This game app is great. The artwork is delightful and I love the feature that provides you with the best hand to play and that you can pin it to your view- eliminates the need to have the card every time, which means great for travel. The only downside is the $ it costs to play. There aren’t many “free” features at all and the pricing seems a bit high. Otherwise, I highly recommend if you play or want to learn MJ!

Beware but not all bad

Beware…has good game instructions BUT you will not be allowed to play anything unless you pay for a yearly or monthly subscription. It said “In-app purchase” but a lot of apps say that but allow you to play with ads…this app is no play at all unless you pay. I give it 3 stars for wasting my time because I wouldn’t have downloaded it had I known that there was no free (with ads) option. However you can get game instructions and helpful tips for free

Best Mahjong App

This is the best Mahjong app available. The user experience is simple and the interface is beautiful. If you love Mahjong and are looking to play wherever and whenever, this is the best paid option out there. Thank you!

app not recognizing a mah jong

i have all the things and app isn’t recognizing it and/or
giving me a mah jong button

Love—just one question

This is a great app. One of the best bot games I’ve seen or played. I like how you can add friends, I just haven’t done it yet—but am eager to see how it works. My friends and I play with blanks, and I like having them in the Parlour games, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to exchange them. Seems like it would be intuitive because everything else, but every time I try I end up discarding something I wanted to keep. Any help?

Response from developer

Thanks so much for the kind review! To exchange a blank, wait until it’s not your turn, then tap the blank in your rack. A green "Swap" button will appear. Tap that, and you’ll be able to choose which tile in the discard pile you’d like to swap it for. If you continue to have trouble, please email us at support@mahjparlour.com and we’ll be happy to help!

Love!

Super cute and easy to use I play with my mom and friends on this app. Love love, love!!!

Great App, 1 problem

I absolutely adore this game. I love the artwork, the calling of tiles, the opportunity to have bots play slow or normal speed.

My only qualm is not having the option to look at the whole score card. Since I’m paying money for this app, getting the option added to open it during my games would be spectacular.

Lessons on iPad needs help

I really like this app and play on my iPad. But the lessons don’t work. The screen doesn’t scroll down and the continue prompt doesn’t show so can’t move on. Discovered this after adding app to my phone.

Remember when everything wasn’t a subscription?

Why on earth would I pay $7/month for a mahjong app? Remember when you would just buy an app for $0.99 or MAYBE $1.99. And then you would just be able to play the game…without ever having to pay more…
Or sometimes there was even a free version you could use until you wanted to upgrade and pay that $1.99 one time fee.

This just feels so icky. Also, buying tiles sets within the game? Come on. Capitalism at its worst.

1 star because the design seems good but you can’t play for free unless you let them have your credit card info.

Response from developer

We understand subscriptions aren’t for everyone. Mahj Parlour is an ad-free app that is actively maintained with ongoing updates, new features, multiplayer, and support, so we chose a subscription model rather than a one-time purchase. We also offer an annual plan at a lower monthly cost. One clarification: additional tile sets aren’t sold as in-app purchases. They’re unlocked by earning Parlour Pearls which are earned by playing and referring friends. We appreciate you giving the app a try and sharing the feedback.

Game Play is Great

Amazing game play but I think it could use a notification setting to see when friends invite you to play.

Response from developer

Thank you! We’re so glad you’re enjoying the game. Notifications for friend invites are a great suggestion. Thanks for the feedback and for playing Mahj Parlour!

So fun - some visibility issues

This is my favorite online mahjong game. The only issue is unless you play with “high visibility tiles” the tiles are laughably unreadable and there is no way to make them bigger. It’s very frustrating.

Love!

I really love this game! It’s beautiful and I love that you can play with friends. my 2 biggest wishes would be more tile sets, and the ability to play with blanks in the real game.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! We just launched the Tile Shop, where you can earn Parlour Pearls by playing and inviting friends, then use them to unlock new tile sets. We’ll also be adding Blank Tiles to multiplayer games with friends in the coming weeks. We hope you enjoy!

Amazing!

Beautiful tiles! Only 4 stars because I would like to have the Mahjong beginners round back to relearn steps.

New at game

It gives you a chance to learn your card and make hands

Beware of Charges

I was charged $50 and did not intend to subscribe. Very confusing.

Pretty close to real

This app is pretty good. It would be nice if the hold and pass buttons were bigger. It was also a little too easy to discard the wrong tile.

Prettiest Game!

I have tried several different and this is the best one I have found. I love the different color and tile options. I would love to be able to purchase more tile designs. I would also like to be able to purchase the app in a one time price instead of a monthly subscription, but still it’s my favorite I have found so far.

I want to love it!

I love the realistic play but I don’t find myself using it very much because I need my card. I love a game while I’m sitting in a carpool line or taking a break at the office but I don’t love having to balance my phone and card. I think this would be a slam dunk if there were a way to slide the Nmjl card hands out from the side. Other games keep you from having to really strategize and know your card by showing you TOO much about the hands you can build, but this one doesn’t help you enough. Just a place to reference the hands would be so helpful!
