About

Mahjong Sage is a free companion for Mahjong played with actual tiles. It settles the four things that stall a real table: how to start the round, which way play goes, whether that hand won and for how much, and what the rules actually say. WHAT IT ISN'T Mahjong Sage doesn't play Mahjong. There's no AI opponent, no online table, no game to sit down to. The real tiles stay where they belong — on the table, in front of you. The app is the referee, the teacher, and the scorekeeper sitting beside them. THREE TABS Learn is the rules shelf: a fan card listing every scoring pattern, the payout ladder, a guide to making the minimum, a how-to-play walkthrough, and a gallery of every tile. Nobody has to take the loudest player's word for it. Score is the auto-scorer. Enter a winning hand and the context around it, and you get an itemized breakdown — which patterns it hit, what each is worth, and who pays what. Track runs the session: seating and the initial dealer, a live diagram of which way play passes, running totals for all four players, every hand logged as it happens, and a settle-up at the end. HONG KONG RULES, YOUR TABLE'S HOUSE RULES Mahjong Sage speaks the Hong Kong ruleset, with house rules you can set to match whatever your table has always done — minimum fan, the limit cap, how the counting curve climbs, who pays on a discard, and what the base fan is worth. Great for: • New players who freeze on setup, direction of play, or "did I win?" • Mixed tables where everyone learned slightly different rules • Travelers and expats bridging the rules they know to the ones on the table • Ending the argument about what a hand is worth, without a phone search • Keeping score without a pencil and a napkin What you get: • Rules reference — full fan card, payout ladder, how-to-play walkthrough, tile gallery • Winning-hand auto-scorer with an itemized fan breakdown and the payout • Round setup — seating, initial dealer, prevailing and seat winds • A live direction-of-play diagram • Four-player session tracking, per-hand logging, and end-of-session settle-up • House rules you can bend to match your table • Works offline — no account, no login, nothing uploaded Free to download — no subscription, no account.
