About
Persons with dysphagia who need a texture-modified diet may have limited food choices due to their swallowing impairments. Furthermore, the food menu for persons hospitalised for a period of time may be repetitive, such that mealtimes may not be enjoyable for the person to eat every day. Meanwhile, family and friends may wish to bring food for their loved ones to enjoy while hospitalised, and these foods may not be in the correct consistency. Nurses and caregivers therefore need to be well-equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to help modify food before serving it to persons with dysphagia who need a texture-modified diet.
