Easy to start learning
I absolutely love the app's simple design and thoughtful set up. I feel like it was made for me, an absolute beginner to Chinese. The stories and emotions to help remember radicals, tones, characters and pronunciations are perfect, for me as an English speaker. The timed reviews are very helpful.
There are no interrupting ads or constant requests to go premium. You get the first two levels free, no strings attached. I will most likely subscribe for several months once I'm at level 3, even though I rarely subscribe to paid apps. Thanks for a great app!!

BEST Chinese Learning App
I've tried over a dozen apps, and I was struggling to keep up and learn Chinese.
Now, with Mandawin, I'm learning faster than I ever have before. And I'm looking forward to the lessons!

Imagine Monty Python taking Mandarin. That’s this app.
Never would I have ever thought that I could laugh so hard learning a language! The designers of this app speak in such a way that you feel you’re talking to a friend cracking jokes while you’re trying to study.
The brilliance of this app, however, is that they ARE cracking jokes ... to help you remember lessons about learning Mandarin.
I have been taking a university class in Mandarin for several weeks now and now after only studying lesson 1 of this app, I’ve reached a level of comprehension faster than I did in the last several weeks in class.
I love my Chinese teacher, but her method is the rote method, which just doesn’t work for me. I speak several languages and I’m an aural learner. So I can speak better than I can write. But honestly there are so many characters each day that it becomes overwhelming. This app is changing everything, because it’s giving me more of the theory behind the characters. And that’s what I’m looking for.
I highly recommend it. You will learn so much and they keep beating you over the head with what you don’t remember. Figuring out what town is the hardest part for me. But in terms of how they explain the characters: brilliant.
I’m so excited to be their first follower on Twitter. I really hope others jump on board. If more courses were taught this way, all of us would be highly intelligent!

Hi Danny, There are currently 400 words and characters in the course, with more being added regularly until we cover the entire HSK curriculum. Words are unlocked progressively as you learn to optimize the learning process. The first 100+ words are free, so if you’re in any doubt you’re welcome to try us out. I have tried the whole range of apps in my efforts to learn mandarin. This one is by far my favorite. The approach is very intuitive and has helped me learn and retain far better than the others.
Unique, effective and fun way to learn Chinese!
I’ve been using Mandawin for some time and have to admit that it’s been very effective at helping me to read and type Chinese.
Mandawin works by teaching you a (sometimes hilariously) made up meaning based on how the characters look. This makes it easier to remember them. These are then combined to learn more complex characters and eventually words, with the earlier stories being further expanded on that reinforce memorisation of the words. Spaced repetition is used to actually learn both characters and stories. It also includes an audio playback of some of the characters to help with pronunciation.
App is well polished, easy to use, and the support is super friendly. I actually look forward to the reviews and the “reading power metric”, which shows you how much of a typical Chinese newspaper you can read, is really motivating!

Fabulous app!
I’ve been studying Mandarin for a couple of years and Hanzi seemed impossible for me to learn. This app makes Hanzi understandable and fun. The pace of the repetition seems spot on and I am picking up the characters at a rapid pace. I actually look forward to the reviews and can’t wait to continue unlocking more characters. Great job on this app!
