About
Marian is a PDF reader built around one promise: it never loses your place.
Close a document mid-sentence, switch apps, restart your phone, come back a week later — Marian puts you back on the same page, at the same zoom, at the same spot on the page. Not "chapter three". The paragraph you were reading.
Everything else is arranged so that promise is never in the way.
READING
• Continuous scroll or page-by-page, whichever you prefer
• Light, sepia and dark rendering — with an option to leave photographs and diagrams untouched
• Margin crop trims the white edges so the text fills more of the screen
• Brightness control that does not touch the rest of your device
• Tap once for controls, tap again for a clean page
YOUR LIBRARY
• Add documents from Files, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or by sharing them from any app
• Grid or list, sorted and filtered how you like
• Search by title or filename
• Collections you can nest — projects inside subjects inside years
• Five smart collections that keep themselves up to date: Currently Reading, Unread, Completed, Recently Opened, Recently Added
MARKING UP
• Highlight in five colours
• Notes anchored to the page
• Bookmarks for the places you will come back to
• Export your highlights and notes as Markdown or plain text
• Your original PDF is never modified — annotations live alongside it, never inside it
ON IPAD
• A sidebar with your whole collection tree
• Keyboard shortcuts
• Full multitasking, in every orientation
QUIETLY HONEST
• No account. There is nothing to sign up for.
• No ads, ever.
• Nothing is uploaded. Your documents stay on your device and in whichever service you already keep them in.
• Optional anonymous usage data, off by default, with a plain-English list of exactly what it would and would not include. You are asked once, on the second launch, and you can change your mind in Settings at any time.
Marian reads PDFs. It does not edit them, sign them, convert them or sell you a subscription to do so.
