Great for Astronomers of All Ages!
Everyone can enjoy all of these atlases as works of art as well as reliable references. They are easy to use and fill the needs of astronomers of all ages. They are well worth the modest fee. It’s an investment in program improvements, and hopefully the creation of atlases for other planets.

Easily worth the price.
Decent, but not worth the money
This is an adequate app, but for six dollars I would expect higher resolution imagery. I zoomed into Gale Crater to look at the area where the upcoming Curiosity rover will be landing and was disappointed to see nothing but a mass of pixels.
Unless you need offline functionality you're probably better off just using a NASA website.

Mars atlas not worth it
Does not show central meridian, or give the cm.
Does not have grid marked for Lon and lat.
Does not always go to requested date and time(???).
Detail is not very good.
Sometimes dumps me out to icon screen.
What is the purpose of the full rotation feature?
Where are the moons?

A very comprehensive and educational app
I'm an astrophotographer who's been capturing high resolution photos of Mars with my telescope and webcam. The Mars Atlas app has helped me enormously to identify specific features in my images such as Candor Chasma and Valles Marineris. I especially like the identification of very small features like Airy Crater which measures only 25 miles wide. Also the app provides a longitude and latitude grid with numerical values which helps in knowing exactly where one is for any selected time. One can flip the image so that North or South is up and turn the labels and long/lat grid on or off. One may choose a real time update so that the globe rotates slowly with the passage of time or one may freeze the time at any user selected day, hour, and minute. The view of Mars can be chosen as the planet would be seen from Earth or as a freely rotable globe. The phase of Mars may be turned on or off. This app was worth every penny and offers great educational value.

Extremely overpriced
Way, way, way overpriced for what it does, and the level of detail it provides. The Mars HD app is a much better value, and a better app outright.
Mars in a box!
This app follows the same GUI and layout as the moon atlas. Not as useful as the moon atlas since I have no telescope able to view this kind of detail but very educational nonetheless. I would like to see this and other similar apps have links to the latest, high resolution photographs of the surface of Mars and the Moon. A download option for these higher resolution images would be great!

Could be much better
This program has only one failing. Resolution. Not enough of it.
The surface detail takes VERY little zooming in before it starts becoming a blocky mess. Otherwise a beautiful and very well implemented program with loads of features, but on the iPad it's simply not detailed enough by half. As a nitpick, would it be possible to have true 3D mapping? Olympus Mons is just a flat feature - would be great if it stuck out in 3D, though I know that might require a serious amount of processing.

A great start.
I'm not sure this is worth $5.99 in it's current state. I've never understood why globes are so expensive. It appears this app follows that tradition. This is a great interactive, zoomable globe, but not much more. I'll pass on a few ideas. I hope your first rev adds some interesting new features.

Fantastic program! As moon atlas it's amazing. My only gripes would be PLEASE can you make the pan view work from where ever you are when I'm globe mode, rather than panning back to a set point, it drives me mad!! Otherwise it's ace, and a little higher red would be a dream.

Mars Atlas
As an astro geek I was keen to get this app and expected a good product cos of the biggish price tag. It's ok and does what it says on the tin - just don't expect to see a huge lot of surface detail on the planet - this isn't a Google Earth type app! With all the photo data from Mars probes that NASA has I maybe expected a bit more sharpness and detail - but I guess that would be costly to do at an iPhone app price?

This App provides all the information that anyone could want in order to explore the red planet. The comprehensive information you can call up on the many features found on Mars makes this App an excellent teaching tool as well as a fantastic virtual exploration of this enigmatic planet. Using the full globe view one can visit every portion of the surface in enough detail to enthrall everyone from the mildly curious to the serious astronomer. I love this App and you will too, I'm sure!

Again, just what I was looking for. Same great format as Moon Atlas. Beautiful to look at and use. I especially love the spacecraft locations. Well worth the price. Apps like this are what makes iPhone the best. Thanks for the terrific app!

Like its sister app Moon Atlas this is fantastic. Very slick with a mine of information on crater names, sizes and landing sites. Great value.
