Not ready for prime time

Buggy, slow, “too many requests” errors unfortunately.

Buggy and limited

Every time I use this app there are bugs in functionality. Some features missing that I need to visit the mobile site to do. It’s ok to start your journey or if you don’t expect much. Eventually you will stay on the mobile site or find a new app.

Getting a lot of timeouts

Had to install Ice Cubes to avoid them

Search results suck

Can someone explain to me what is the logic of having search results come up on a small floating window. I’m already on a mobile device of a small screen, why would you use an even a smaller window for results? Just use the whole damn screen.

Great

Great community and one that I definitely recommend. I wish there was an option to change the icon back to the pre liquid glass look.

Great Decentralized Social Media

Its great

Unusable on 18.7.x

Client is unusable on 18.7.x. Can’t unfollow people. Scrolls all over the place when looking at message attachments. Stop trying to be cute with the UI and just make sure things are working.

Email if it was Twitter

It’s funny to think what email would look like if it was made today. Instead of multiple email providers that all coexist on the same network, it would be a singular giant corporation. That single corporation gets to decide how emails are sent, who they’re sent to, and what can be in them. It’s a miracle that email isn’t like this, but that’s what many platforms do. Mastodon is doing what email does, but for micro blogging.

Good client with very few bugs

Overall this is a solid mastodon client, which implements all the features that I need very well. I've been using it for quite some time and it's nice and reliable.

One issue I will raise is that there is a tendency for the feed to get visually shifted around/jumpy , sometimes when I open a piece of media and then close it, the active area of the app jumps away from what I was looking at.

There are also some issues scrolling backwards, scrolling back up to look at something that I was looking at earlier. The client will jump and skip, I'm not sure what's causing that, but I will say it's a bit frustrating as it seems to happen often.

Keep up the great work. with a few more tweaks this app will be rock solid .

HTTP 503 errors!

Why so many? Can't use its iOS app in my updated iPhone 17!

very slow and clunky and buggy

the app is not able to process much data at once, the number of steps for any action is excessive, prone to freezing and seemingly impossible to use a different instance or server. major improvements needed asap.

additionally the notification tab is now nonfunctional

Never turn your phone sideways

A long standing bug that’s been there for years is that if you don’t keep your phone perfectly vertical, it tries and fails to rotate causing the entire app to become unusable until you force close the app.

I have no idea why he doesn’t just deactivate rotation in the app. That feature has never worked.

Can’t create an account

Just useless can’t even create a account it doesn’t work

App Good, Unhinged people, not good

The App itself is great, it's gotten so much better over the years but I had to get off of it, there's so many unhinged people on this thing it's all the leftovers from Tumblr that are on here.
I mean, like, everybody has a right to do whatever they want to do, but seriously man, let's grow up, 45-year-olds with anime avatars and 1800 different pronouns, get real people, how an I supposed to take ANYTHING you say seriously, then you have hundreds of posts from thousands of angry man hating femenist Karen's that get mad at "mansplainer's" and one example is one man simply helped a woman with a flat tire get off of the busy highway with a flat tire change she was not able to do, and the way of showing appreciation to his actions is by her talking trash about him on social media calling him a mansplainer because he may have pointed out something to her during that roadside rescue that could help her in the future in case someone does not stop to help . . . so you just have people on here that are the worst of the worst, I can't read these kinds of things anymore with my morning coffee, or ever anymore.
I'm sorry but unfortunately for a well crafted app it hosts a collection of the worst thoughts from the worst people in the world, so for me personally I can't take it and it has NOTHING to do with the app developers, it's the people that use the app, it's just like X, another loony bin, just on the other side of the spectrum.
If you're able to tolerate snarky, narcissistic, self involved virtue signalling morons, then, by all means download the app and sign up.

Love it in theory

I love the idea behind it and want to support it - but in practice, the app struggles, the UI is not great, and navigation is a chore

Please address some of these issues to help grow the platform

The local feed disappeared

I liked having the option to switch feeds, but can no longer find this.

Decent

I wish posting on instances was more intuitive. Like I don’t get the file sharing to post videos thing still so I tend to not. Also I wish there was a button for emojis like Tusky.

Feature regression hampers use

Recent updates make the app slightly prettier, but you can no longer long-press media to get usable sharing (like copying an image). The built-in sharing seems buggy (sharing a picture shares its full URL and Alt text, but not the image‽). When the cache of posts runs dry, the extremely long drag-and-hold to reload is buggy and inconsistent. Hoping developers will read and act on feedback here, as there does not seem to be any way to submit through the app.
