Fun and Offline
I always look for good offline games to play when there’s no connection, and this is my top favorite. It’s super satisfying and the design is simple but cute. one star down just because progression via the leveling and character rank up totems is insanely hard since chest drop rates are rough and you have to farm for months to get enough statues to level up if you’re not paying. Progressive is less bad at lower levels but sometimes I just log in to eat stamina to farm to level, though you can always play some rounds to full star or do the arenas.

app update lost all progress
updated the app today without knowing that the new update would wipe all my progress in the game just because i’ve been playing for a long time and only now does it not just want me to MAKE an account it REQUIRES one and it will not bring back my progress from before from this same device. was a really fun game, will not be restarting from scratch

Amazing game
I used to play this game years ago and found out that it’s still being updated years later. This game is very addicting and fun. I wish the game was more lenient with the energy feature, it takes a lot of the fun away, especially when the energy cost increases the more you play. I’d rather save my gems for character tokens and chests instead of spend them for energy to play longer. I would spend money to get rid of the energy feature altogether!! Another thing is, even if i spent a lot of money on this game, it would still take a thousand years to unlock some of the end-game characters. I also think that moving the blocks diagonally can be difficult to execute, and often misfires to other blocks. There is also a glitch i found in the game where sometimes the character tokens don’t show up under the character after you receive one, and it remains as 0/25. This is one of my favorite mobile games of all time and just wanted to express some issues that would make the game perfect.

Great game!
I first downloaded this game in 2017 and redownloaded it in 2025. I never got even close to how far I am now (far enough to see the creatures without walk cycles)! I love the pixel art, the music, and the backgrounds! The little hats on the creatures is a fun way to change it up a bit. When I first played I got no where close to unlocking the dark world and was surprised to have discovered new challenges so far into the game! There’s so much to love about this game that I’m not gonna write all down since I want to explain a couple small bugs/weird things I’ve noticed as someone fairly far in the game. I highly recommend checking the game out even with these bugs, they’re very small and mostly cosmetic! The rest is mainly for the devs :]
There's a few bugs/weird things. The button to sell tokens for maxed out hero's says "let's battle!", I'm assuming it was reused from the other buttons. It still works fine, just an interesting thing.
As mentioned before, after a certain point, the creatures no longer have a walk cycle in front of closed down stores so they just slide around. It's not an issue! Just a funny thing I noticed. I forget when it started but the most recent shop I opened was the cookie rabbit and it started before then.
It kinda sucks how a lot of the levels cost double digit energy. I'm level 59 and my max energy is only 88, meaning I can only play ~8 levels (unless it's a boss level since those cost 20).
I've also gotten quite unlucky with pulling new statues, or maybe the chance of pulling them from chests is really low? I maxed out all my normal level heroes a bit ago and have continued pulling their statues from chests 90% of the time. I understand having a harder chance pulling high rarity statues, but I think I’ve only gotten one (1) rare hero to full statues in my ~3 1/2 months of playing. I still have one (1) common hero I haven’t unlocked in the dark world in the ~1 month that I’ve had that unlocked. It’s just highly unlikely to pull them or to have the coins to get them.
Last issue is that sometimes the game freezes on a menu, but I think I’ve realized that’s from me rushing to click another button right after opening the menu and it probably confuses the game, causing it to freeze. Closing and opening the game again always fixes it. I’d recommend to anyone else playing to wait a second after opening any sort of menu just to be safe.

Issue
Just redownloaded it for old time sake only for it to ask to signs in which it didn’t work and now everything is gone so yeah.
Lost my progress due to update
New login update makes it impossible to continue where you left off. Actual years I spent on the game is gone. Very disappointed in game devs.

After literal YEARS of grinding all of my progress has been wiped. Devs…. WHY?!
My account is gone
The game is now asking for an email login that I never signed up for; now all of my progress and any money I spent is not gone. That is a total shame because the game is fun at its core.

I couldn’t open the app today so I updated it, but my previous record was with my Apple account, so after I updated the game I lost all the data (that I played for years) cuz I didn’t have an account 😭 also I can’t register a new account for some reason this is just heartbreaking

Somehow things got worse
I previously left a review explaining my gripes with this game. The gameplay is fantastic but the slow leveling and forced quick loot systems completely hinder the fun. But now, something unimaginably worse has happened. The first update in 7 years has added an account saving feature. It got rid of the ability to sign in with Apple ID and forces you to log in with an email and password. The only option for those of us without a registered account is to now completely start over. Unbelievable.
I can't say that I've progressed as far as I could have in the last 5-6 years, but that's because I don't have time to play a mobile game at any given chance. I've often taken a few months break in between actively playing this game. However, that's all the more reason that what progress I had was important to me. I was steadily leveling, even if terribly slowly. It's unthinkable that the devs managed to wipe everyone's progress, and even more unthinkable that it hasn't been addressed or fixed yet. I honestly have no hope that they will actually fix it.

Record was deleted
I love this game sooo much. I’ve been playing it for 7 or 8 years, and I've also spent money because I love it. But today, when I opened it, all of my records were deleted. I can’t find them anymore. It makes me feel so sad and upset. If this problem isn’t fixed, I will not play it anymore.

Below is my old review…. updated the app today and opened it and was prompted to sign in or start a new game. What the heck??? Where is my save data?????? Did we really lose all of our progress?? :((( I see it is not just me who this has happened to…… Please fix this :((
UPDATE: if you are able to, erase all the data on your iphone and restore from an icloud backup from BEFORE you updated match land. i did this and i have my progress back!!! ensure to turn app store > automatic updates OFF.

A lot of games bombard users with ads and push us away, but the balance here lets me focus on enjoying the game for extended periods of time. It helps things feel peaceful which I really appreciate!
My next store to unlock is Owl Jams, and at this point in the game my progress has really slowed down. It feels more like a resource-farming game at the moment, trying to get 4 stars for my Kato. I wish I made progress just a bit more frequently, to keep me super motivated !!!! :D

This was my favorite game during the pandemic! It was sad to let go when it got laggy and would always crash. So happy I can play it again!

Update got rid of my save… wow.
Lost all progress
App is now asking me to sign in but I never have. Lost an insane amount of progress so I guess that’s it and will delete the app.
New update is forcing me to reset my progress
Upon downloading the newest update I am no longer able to continue my progress without "signing in", and the only alternative the UI gives is to create a new game. However, there is no option to create an account which I don't believe there was ever an option to originally or a reason to. So now, unless they fix this UI, I cannot continue to play this game until I have chosen to reset which I will not. I spent so much time grinding to get legendaries and I will not let it be for nothing. I am not deleting the app so that I won't lose progress, but if there's no way to resolve this issue I'll just stop playing entirely.
Edit: I got confirmation that I do I have to reset if I want to keep playing so I'm just gonna quit until I feel like revisiting and starting over. I was so deep into the late game as well and it hurts to have it all gone. For any new players though you shouldn't have any problems so don't feel too discouraged from playing.
