System crash
I love the app! The meals look very delicious, but when it’s time to move to shop online. I can only pick a few items into your cart before the system crashes. I would love it if that error was fixed, it makes it hard to shop for the items from your grocery list.
Great App!!
This app is amazing for being completely free! The only reason I took off a star is because there are no drink or sweet recipes . I think that is a bit misleading for saying this is a food and drink app when it isn’t. Otherwise this app has amazing savory recipes.
Do not subscribe if you have iOS
I subscribed for pro so that I could have access to all features however it does not work for iOS and they do not offer any refunds. When I emailed them asking for assistance, they literally just said oh no! we can’t give you a refund since it’s iOS.

Amazing
This app helps me so much as a mom who struggles with ADHD. My only critique is that I have a larger family and would LOVE an 8 and 10 servings option ❤️
Great meal prep app
I love this app, I just wish they had more supermarket integrations but it’s easy enough to just use this as a shopping list.
Best app
Genuinely the best and most useful apps I have ever used. Worth every penny for the subscription. Saves so much time, effort and money.
Bug since update
I have used and enjoyed Mealime for for several years but since the latest update, I can no longer edit categories in my grocery list. Super annoying.
Works great unless you want to edit your grocery list
Purchased the full version in hopes there would be no issues eating recipes and the grocery list. Unfortunately when opening the grocery list and selecting ingredients the app has categorized as “other”, I’m unable to actually change its category to the correct category. Screen changes and just goes blurry then app crashes. Great app other than that.

Barely any new recipes. Can’t update categories as the screen goes blank. Apple list would be easier than this junk, and it’s free

Mealime has fed me for almost 10 years!
I discovered Mealime in 2017 amid the subscription cooking box craze. It gave me all the benefits of Blue Apron without the cost. I’ve been an evangelist ever since - I recommend it to everyone because everyone can use it! I was a proficient cook before using the app but Mealime has taught me so much. The app used to feed just me but has now grown to feeding my family of 3! It’s a great product and I wish everyone would use it.

LIFE CHANGING
This is hands down the coolest app ever!!! It is SOOO WORTH IT!!
Love the app, would love to have dark mode though.
App has been a blessing for our meals but as mentioned in the title, it would be great to have dark mode to save on battery when displaying the recipe especially on iPad.
A Life Saver!!!!
I’ve had Mealime for a little bit over two years and upgraded to the premium option to test it out. Personally, I can do without it, BUT it was really nice to have that many more options available!
BLUF: Kid friendly, budget friendly, easy to make recipes, and plenty of free options!
My thoughts after about 75 different meals made are below:
The Pros:
- Every meal is explained in detail how to prepare and in what order to do everything.
- Serving sizes are included
-Meals are extremely easy to prepare and can have substitutions for almost everything.
-KID FRIENDLY! My daughter loves going through and choosing what she wants to make and then making it herself and it turns out just as if I made it!
- Combined shopping list is my favorite feature. It add totals of each meal together of the same ingredient instead of having to do the math yourself or it being listed twice. Being able to look at home and check off what I already have before going to the store makes it sooooo much easier too!
The Cons:
I have none. Even it having a “Pro” feature isn’t a con to me because there are already so many options to choose from the free plan.

Classic case of post-acquisition rot
June 2026 update: updates are still coming infrequently, and the latest update crashes often. If it’s another two or three months before an update that hopefully fixes it, my decade plus of using this service is probably coming to an end.

Mealime was acquired in March 2022. That’s also the same time that they stopped updating their blog. I’ve been a paying customer of their service for over 13 years and use it daily, but it has gone downhill since they got acquired. The iOS app has stagnated, and updates (which are the only way that new recipes appear in the app) went from being almost every week to months apart. You’ll probably see an old response from the developer from a couple of years ago claiming this was “fixed”, but if anything, the new recipe drops have become more and more infrequent.
I can’t name a single major new feature that the app has rolled out since 2022. It’s still does what I need it to, but I no longer tell all my friends and family about it. What used to be a solid 5/5 excellent service is now solidly in “meh” territory. I keep hunting for a replacement and will probably drop my subscription at some point.

Busy Parent cooked first time in years
Haven’t had the will or brainpower to cook more than bare minimum for survival for while now. This was so easy. I had food for the entire week Sunday- Sunday and actually had solid meals. My grocery budget increased a bit but there were not any wasted ingredients and I felt the difference of actually having eaten during the day.

Bad update
I can no longer change the category where things automatically go in this app and I’ve had it for years. I sent him a message and nobody answered. It’s been over a week.

I work in software, and when people ask about my favorite app, this is the one I name. They never miss! Recipes are on point, user experience is pristine, whether you’re building a plan, buying a gadget, or cooking a meal.
