Entries are saved as plain Markdown files in a folder you choose, so they are readable anywhere and outlive the app. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Memo writes your entry using Apple on-device intelligence, so nothing leaves the device at all. If you would rather use a cloud model, you can connect your own API key for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, or OpenRouter. Even then only the text transcript is sent, never your voice.
