A way better app
This is definitely better than nagging Duolingo, i dont have to constantly keep a streak alive and am free to come back whenever I want, I would definitely recommend this app
Cussing?
I was really enjoying this app until my last lesson which was a lesson on how to cuss. It was filled with words I would never use.
How am i supposed to learn??
It’s ridiculous to offer a free version of your app if you can’t learn without paying. Almost every lesson is paywalled by pro. And the pro version is $300. Anything useful is pay to learn. This sucks.
Just Chinese?!
Bizarre how I want to learn Mandarin but the only option is learn Chinese… I don’t think this app/services knows what they’re doing…
Audio is difficult to hear
The audio recordings are very difficult to hear. The quality of the recordings are poor which makes it difficult to hear how words are pronounced. I will not be issuing this app because of this.
Taking TOO long
I’ve waited for so long because it didn’t load the other languages but when I switched English to Spanish it shows me every language

Accessibility
I rely on lip reading sometimes, I think a lot of people do lip read to a certain extent without realizing, and it has been so much easier to learn with videos of real people talking. I think you’re doing yourself a favour if you’re learning from humans rather than animated characters.

Profanity Necessary? Really?
The strong profanity would cause me to never suggest this app to preteens. Memrise confirmed to me that it’s intentional. There should be a setting for parents to disable that.
The app might be helpful only if used to supplement other language-learning apps or methods. By itself, it’s insufficient.
Many video clips have terrible audio quality because the speaker isn’t using a dedicated microphone. Very unprofessional.

Can’t use
So I wanted to learn Spanish and picked to use this app… But I tried selecting an new account, and then picking Spanish but I would just load forever

So, I’m planning to learn Russian. I’m an English speaker. I first download the app, I start to set myself up; first page is “what language do you want to learn?” Okay, typical. I select English (US), and the language list loads for at least 10 minutes. I have 3/4 bars, full wifi. I select Russian, and BOOM! Languages right away.

Having trouble restoring my lifetime subscription from the past. Need help in this regard to get back into learning the language

The way of teaching at Memrise surpasses Duolingo greatly and even on the free subscription.You can have a conversation and watch videos and choose what vocab you want to learn , they give you really useful vocabulary to learn so that you can speak little by little. It is a guaranteed 5 stars and can’t be less.

Excellent way to learn
They use real people and not ai. spaced repetition might be the best way to learn a language. Wonderful app!
Repetitive
I know to learn you need to repeat but I did teşekuler 1000 times but learnt a bit keeping it too
Paywall
The reason I loved this app so much was that it allowed for amazing free learning without a paywall, and paying for a subscription just allowed for cool perks. Now the free stuff can’t be used continuously without a subscription. Like why can’t I do a speed review multiple times in a day if I haven’t reviewed all words? I was able to a week ago! I’m so disappointed. I wanted to subscribe to the lifetime subscription because of how much I loved the free version, but now they’re locking basic stuff behind a paywall. I recommended this app to all my friends because of how much you can get for free, but now the quality is going downhill. Boo.
