Great Tool with Some Limitations
I’ve been using Menu Mate during my travels in Spain and Italy, and it’s been a fantastic companion for navigating menus in languages I don’t speak. The scanning feature is quick and accurate, even with slightly crumpled menus, and the translations are generally spot-on, with helpful breakdowns of ingredients and preparation methods. For example, it explained what “patatas bravas” are in detail, which helped me decide to order them. However, the lack of dish images is a bit of a letdown, especially when I’m trying to visualize unfamiliar dishes. Also, the app occasionally struggles with less common dialects or very stylized fonts. It’s still a must-have for international dining, but I hope they add images and improve font recognition in future updates.
