MePhotos

MePhotos is the client for your own photo and document server - software you run on a computer at home, holding your family's photos on a drive you own. Nothing here is stored with a third party. There is no subscription, no storage tier, and no company that can change its terms, raise its price, or close down and take your photos with it. BACK UP YOUR CAMERA ROLL Photos and videos upload to your own server, in the background, while you charge overnight. Uploads wait for Wi-Fi unless you choose otherwise, and a personal hotspot counts as mobile data rather than pretending to be Wi-Fi. Nothing is ever uploaded twice. Every item is checked against the server before a single byte is sent, so a re-sync of a large library costs seconds rather than hours. CHOOSE WHAT GETS BACKED UP Everything, or only photos, or only videos. The whole library, or a single album - including the albums iOS maintains for you, like Favourites, Screenshots and Slo-mo. For anything else, Apple's own picker lets you search by person, place or date and hand the result straight to MePhotos. If your phone keeps smaller copies to save space, MePhotos can fetch the full-quality original from iCloud before uploading, so what is backed up is the real thing. SEE WHO CAN SEE WHAT Share a photo or a document with specific people, or with your whole family. Open any photo and it tells you plainly who can see it. A Shares screen lists every account with access and exactly what each one can open, and access can be withdrawn in one swipe. DOCUMENTS TOO Tax returns, insurance policies, passports - filed by category, searchable, and previewed without leaving the app. HELPER MODE The app explains itself while you are learning it, and one switch in Settings hides every explanation once you are not. REQUIRES YOUR OWN SERVER MePhotos is not a service and does not include storage. You need the MePhotos server software running on a machine you control.
