Crashing!

I love the Mac version, but the iPad version crashes every time I open the app. This is unacceptable for a subscription-based app.

Cannot use on both iPhone and laptop

I’ve bought the full access Merlin schedule (blue) on Apple laptop and have had multiple issues trying to open it on my iPhone (same id account). I’ve deleted , reinstated, reboot phone etc on iPhone to try and make it work. But absolutely hopeless. Now I’ve had to pay both $249 and $149 for the same app. Note: it shows on my subscription that I have both (on iPhone) but yet I cannot open it without subscribing again.

Architecture/Design management

I’ve been a casual user of Merlin for several years as an architect and contractors site design manager. I’ve been honing my Merlin skills to scope, track and allocate and sequence the complex design tasks to individuals. Merlin is flexible, great for scoping and solving problems and of course graphics flexible, varied and beautiful. The technical support is good too.

Gut aber leider extrem teuer

Good Project Management App, with decent functions and nice icloud integration. However, what is really annoying me is the desperate move to get as much as possible from end users. 100 € per year is way to high. This is the price of a full office suite. I would rate it a 5 star, if the price were more acceptable.

Ich habe versucht, ein sehr großes Projekt mit vielen zeitkritischen Elementen im Gantt-Chart von Merlin zu managen. Kann man vergessen. Wahnsinnig umständlich und unübersichtlich. Sowohl auf dem Mac als auch auf dem iPad: Typisch deutsche Software. Die Entwickler sollten sich mal internationale Produkte ansehen, um zu lernen. Ich habe jedenfalls mit anderen Produkten viel schneller bessere Ergebnisse erzielt. Eine Nachfrage beim Support wurde übrigens mit einem Verweis auf eine Webseite beantwortet, auf der die gestellte Frage in keinster Weise behandelt wird. Video-Tutorial sind unfassbar schlecht gemacht.

Lost 2 hours of customization and updates

I have been using Merlin Project for 2 weeks now only on my iPad. I tolerate frequent crashes (e.g. multiple crashes within 1 or 2 hours time frames). But so far, the crashes have only resulted in the loss of the last update. I am only using the app locally on my iPad; no synch with server or iCloud. Then today, I spent about 2 hours adding custom fields, groups, filters, and designing reports. After the last crash, ALL of my customizations were gone (filters, groups, custom fields and their data). There appears to be no way to restore to an earlier version of the project from today. I was considering buying 2 licenses (1 for work, 1 for personal) because they are separate Apple IDs, but now I can’t imagine paying their licensing feeds with the risk of losing my work from these crashes with no backup or restore. And, I am experiencing the crashes on both iPads (Apple IDs) so this is not a machine dependent issue, this is an issue with the stability of the app.

Feature-packed

There are so many features in this app and it’s a lot easier to use than some of the others I have tried. I really like the reports and ability to create custom reports which could save a lot of time I currently waste spinning the same information for different groups. ** What I am concerned about is the apps stability ** I downloaded the app yesterday and have experienced several crashes (the screen goes away) while I was trying out the report customizations. For the cost of this app, I do not expect it to crash when looking at the sample projects and going through the different settings and options.

Excellente application de planification et pilotage projet

Une application très performante et une excellente alternative pour piloter et planifier un projet sur Mac et IPad.

Points forts :
- Bon moteur de planification, liens et affichage Gantt
- Grande capacité de customisation : création de champs personnalisés
- Multiples possibilités de filtrage et regroupement des tâches sur n’importe quel champ
- Gestion des ressources, des charges, des coûts et budgets très complète
- Possibilité quasiment infinie de mise en forme (couleur/sur brillance, texte, champs affichés, création de vues personnalisées, diagramme de Gantt) qui s’appuie sur des règles automatiques
- Une approche très différenciante pour gérer Risques/problèmes/actions/informations directement liés au planning
- Création de rapports intégrée (un peu limitée mais très pratique pour des rapports simples)
- Nombreuses options d’affichage des tâches (PERT, MindMap, Kanban…)

Points faibles :
- Pas de vrai gestion de référence du planning (prise de photo d’un planning et indicateurs d’écart par rapport à la référence). Il existe une fonctionnalité qui est très limitée et non contrôlable par l’utilisateur.
- Pas de copier/coller entre l’application et un tableur (pour l’export et l’import de tâche). Un dispositif d’export est cependant disponible vers de multiples formats (PDF, CSV, XML, image…)
- Pas de possibilité de créer des liens directement depuis le diagramme de Gantt en liant les tâches avec le pointeur. Il existe une solution de glisser déposer une tâche dans un espace pour les prédécesseur et successeurs.
- Pas de possibilité de créer des champs personnalisés calculés
- Pas de possibilité de modifier l’avancement directement sur le diagramme de Gantt
- Le % achèvé n’est pas cohérent sur les regroupements des tâches parents.
- Un marquage de l’avancement à la date d’état serait un plus
- Pas de possibilité d’imprimer uniquement une sélection de tâche
- Ergonomie pour la création de « pièces jointes » perfectible (3 clics minimum). Des redondances de certains champs non partagés entre les différentes pièces jointes (par exemple un risque est affecté à un porteur sur le champ « En charge » alors qu’un problème est sur le champ « Affecté à »)

En conclusion une très bonne application pour planifier et piloter un projet sur Mac avec quelques points qui pourraient être encore améliorés.

Sehr schöne Projektmanagementapplikation für das iPad

Ich nutze Merlin schon lange auf dem Mac, die iPad-Version ist super integriert und macht die mobile Verwendung sehr einfach. (Wäre fast ein Spass, wenn‘s nicht Arbeit wäre ;-)

Unglaublich gute App für Projektmanagement und Strategieentwicklung

Eine der Apps, die ich schon seit sehr langer Zeit suche! Ich kann die teilweise negativen Bewertungen rein auf den Preis bezogen nicht nachvollziehen.
Wer arbeitet denn umsonst für ein gutes Produkt? John Ruskin’s Gesetz der Wirtschaft jedenfalls verbietet das Angebot eines Top-Produkts zu einem unterdurchschnittlichen Preis.
Außerdem ermöglicht mir dieses Produkt ein Vielfaches durch ein besseres Projektmanagement zu verdienen.
Für meine beruflichen Projekte, die Praxiseröffnung meiner Frau und sogar meine privaten Projekte eine unglaubliche Hilfe!

Ihr leistet super Arbeit mit dieser App und werdet bei anhaltendem Service Programme wie MS Project, welches nebenbei weitaus teurer ist, langfristig absetzen.

Ihr verdient gar keine marode 4.4 Sterne-Bewertung, sondern solltet in der Top Anwendung der Business-Apps stehen.

Ich werde euch uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen und euer Abo wird das erste Abo, welches ich seit 10 Jahren Apple-Nutzung gern kaufe!

Dateien verschwinden

2 mal einen Strukturplan angefangen. Und plötzlich ist alles weg und man ist wieder am Beginn der Vorlage. Leider nicht zu gebrauchen.

Ein versehentliches Löschen von Daten Zeilen kann man durchs 'Wiederrufen' korrigieren. Merlin unterstützt persistentes Wiederrufen. Oder aber finden Sie die Datei nicht wieder, welche Sie editiert haben? Sie wird im 'Verlauf' aufgelistet sein. Die Erstellung und das Editieren von Dateien wird in der Dokumentation genau erklärt und ist eigentlich gar nicht so schwierig. Am besten melden Sie sich beim Support support@projectwizards.net, damit wir Ihnen helfen können.

Move over MS Project!

I have been working with MS Project for a number of years and in my search for something compatible with iOS and Mac 8 came across this jewel. Simple and straightforward without sacrificing the needed details of running a project of any sort. After the trial version I downloaded it to my iPad Pro and iPhone and now I am using only Merlin for my side hustles in Project Management. I look forward to the updates where I can customize the columns.

Mac and iPad apps great (4 star) & iPhone useful but 3 star and could be great

Brilliant app. Well worth the subscription. Just so powerful. Brings the power of trello, MS project, plus many other tools together. Love it. Rated 4 star rather the 5 only because would really appreciate a more powerful iPhone experience.

A few hopes & wishes for iPhone app that lags a little behind:

Hoping a fix comes for app urls that don’t work on the iPhone app.

Also, without filtering, the iPhone app is far less useful than it could be. Saved filters work great across Mac and iPad, and would bring great value to iPhone. As would kanban and mindMap modes. Are you able to support these?

Fantastic PM Tool / ...with some output bugs

Working still with the trial version, but will be subscribing. Great tool for plotting out complex projects, durations, dependencies. Very frictionless touch interface. Perfect integration of Kanban sorting and the report creation rapidly creates meaningful snapshots of project status for distribution to project teams. I work in MS Project on the PC, and have OmniPlan on the iPad. Merlin Project is far and away the best of them when it comes to on screen planning, having a very powerful tool at your disposal. Kanban integration and Reports far surpass both of the others. But......

Project output to pdf, print etc. is a work in progress and creates a pretty big stumbling block when it comes to distributing all of the great information that’s possible to generate in this app. Font color changes to white or disappears. Reports crash when exporting to RTF, text disappears altogether when converting to PDF. Best I’m able to do is export to MS Project which is a program I would love to never use again..

I contacted tech support a few times, they were incredibly responsive and are clearly working on further development. I’m rooting for them.

Despite the output bugs, the tool and the team that made it are too good not to support. Incredibly powerful for PMs on complex projects. Hope they work out the bugs soon. Willing to help if I can.

Vielen Dank Domm989 dass Sie die iOS app getestet haben. Das Abo brauchen Sie, wenn Sie mobil Änderungen machen wollen. Zum Öffnen und Betrachten von Dateien der macOS app auf das iPhone oder iPad, reicht die iOS app in Lese-Zugriff aus.

Powerful but needs a UX designer

Good functionality but some features are very unintuitive or have poor UX. Also disappointed you have to buy a separate license for desktop version

Tolle App, aber ...

... das Abo Modell stört mich. Ich bin bereit für die App einmalig Geld auszugeben und auch wieder, wenn es eine neue Version gibt (ist natürlich beides vom Preis abhängig), also z. B. vom 1.x auf 2.x.
Aber ein Abo werde ich nicht abschließen.

Ansonsten ein intuitiv zu bedienendes Programm, welches das Planen von Pflegen von Projekten auf dem iPad, in meinem Fall 12,9“, leicht von der Hand gehen lässt. Aus meiner Sicht ein sehr gut durchdachtes Produkt, man merkt, dass hier viele Erfahrungen eingeflossen sind.
