About

MetalCheck — Professional Metal Detector Validation for Food Manufacturing MetalCheck is a purpose-built iPhone app that takes the complexity and paperwork out of metal detector validation in food production environments. Designed for food manufacturers, packers, and processors operating under HACCP-based food safety management systems, MetalCheck delivers a fully digital, audit-ready validation workflow — right from your pocket. What MetalCheck Does MetalCheck guides operators through the structured 30-test validation routine required to confirm that a metal detector is functioning correctly at its Critical Control Point (CCP). Each test is recorded individually — tap to pass, long-press to fail — with the app automatically prompting for corrective action notes on any failure. The result is a complete, tamper-evident record of every validation run, with nothing left to chance or memory. Metal Detector & Test Piece Management Set up every detector on site with full details: manufacturer, model, serial number, calibration date, location, and detection type (Full Spectrum or Ferrous in Foil). Register your certified test pieces — Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, and Stainless Steel — with sizes and serial numbers. MetalCheck records exactly which test pieces were used in each session, satisfying the traceability requirements demanded by auditors. Operator, Product & Line Records Create operator profiles with names and employee IDs, and maintain a full product and production line register. Every validation session captures who ran it, on which line, and for which product — creating a clear chain of custody for every record. Digital Sign-Off & PDF Reports Once all 30 tests are complete, the operator signs directly on screen using their finger. Every completed session can then be exported as a professional PDF report containing all session details, the full test result grid, corrective action notes, and the captured signature — formatted to meet the expectations of internal QA teams, third-party auditors, and retailer technical managers. Sharing Data Across a Site or Group of Sites MetalCheck is built for teams. The built-in JSON export and import feature allows a complete site configuration — metal detectors, test pieces, operators, products, production lines, and all validation history — to be exported as a single file and shared with colleagues. Any team member can import it to their own device instantly. A site QA manager can maintain the master setup and push it to multiple operators, or records collected across a shift can be consolidated into a single device for reporting. The same mechanism works across a group of sites, allowing a technical or QA director to keep consistent records and configurations across multiple locations — with all data staying within your organisation, on devices you control. HACCP CCP Compliance The validation method — 30 sequential tests, individual pass/fail recording, documented test piece traceability, operator identification, and authenticated sign-off — is fully compliant with: BRC Global Standard for Food Safety (Issue 9) SALSA scheme requirements UK Food Safety Act 1990 FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000 Major UK retailer codes of practice, including Tesco, Sainsbury's, M&S, Waitrose, ALDI, and Lidl PDF exports provide the documentary evidence needed for internal audits, third-party certification visits, and unannounced retailer inspections. MetalCheck replaces clipboards, paper forms, and spreadsheets with a fast, consistent, digital process — giving your team confidence that every validation is done right, every time, with proof always at hand.
