What's New in Mettle

1.5.1

September 2, 2026

Hey Mettlers! This update introduces three new encounters: Guardians of the Nile (easy), Visitors of the Night Sky (medium), and Yaoguai of the Dynasty (hard). That's 21 new monsters to fight! I had so much fun creating these. Make sure to pick them next Monday. Other notable changes: • Three new heroes, each earned by sweeping a full week of Beasts of the Twilight, Zombies of Hollywood, or Espíritos do Brasil. If you've already defeated these encounters, you'll need to beat them again to unlock the heroes. I'll roll out the same system for the remaining encounters soon. • The Battle tab is now "Fight," with Parties and Monsters sections. Tap any encounter to read its story and see which monsters you've met so far. • New onboarding, so it's easier to get started. • A tutorial on how to play Mettle, which you can find in Settings. • And a bunch of bug and UI fixes! Please share all your feedback through the form in Settings. Thank you again for playing Mettle!

Annoyed

The game made me randomly start all over and made me purchase a first hero again.

Found my motivation to walk more!

I really like the way it’s such a simple but great idea. I found myself checking my steps and taking the long, scenic route to increase my damage. Great app!

Got the whole family walking!

This is a super fun and simple game. We just walk and our steps count toward defeating a monster. Our characters level up by walking too

Fun game

Very simple game. Walk throughout the day and all those steps go towards defeating monsters. Some characters are better against different types of monster types.
Only thing I’m not sure about is how often it updates your step count?
Do give it a try.

Response from developer

Hey there, developer here. Thanks for your comment! This is the first app I published so yeah, it's simple game :). About updating the step count, it updates instantly from Apple Health whenever you open the app, and in the background it syncs about once an hour (that's an Apple limit on step data). Ending an Apple Watch workout also triggers an immediate background sync.

Got my family walking more!

It's keeping all of us motivated to move every day, in a fun and competitive way.
