Not good

Previous app was a lot easier to connect to other apps. The new studio is difficult to connect a lot more steps. Very frustrating. You have to leave the app open if you’re broadcasting to like a different app.

Complete Garbage for Youth Baseball Streams – A Paid Downgrade

★☆☆☆☆

I wanted to love this app. I purchased a Mevo Start camera, subscribed to Mevo Pro, spent countless hours building a youth baseball streaming setup, and genuinely believed Mevo Studio/Multicam would be the best solution available. Unfortunately, after months of testing, troubleshooting, and multiple failed live broadcasts, I finally canceled my Mevo Pro subscription.

The biggest problem is reliability.

The app advertises an impressive list of features: multiple cameras, overlays, media playback, video injections, scene switching, RTMP streaming, and more. The problem is that when it comes time to actually use those features during a live event, especially youth sports, the app becomes unpredictable.

I have experienced:

* “Slow Internet” warnings despite strong cellular service
* “No reception” warnings while maintaining excellent signal
* Video preview freezing
* Application sluggishness
* False storage warnings despite having significant free storage available
* Random disconnects and reconnects
* Complete application crashes during live streams

These are not one-time issues. I have reproduced similar failures on both an iPad Mini A17 Pro and an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

One of my most recent tests involved streaming for nearly an hour using the iPhone camera, overlays, and media playback without issue. The problems only started after adding the Mevo camera feed and interacting with it. The app reported “Recording stopped due to limited system resources,” displayed a warning about overheating, and then completely crashed. Restarting the app temporarily fixed the issue, only for it to happen again.

What makes this especially frustrating is that the older Mevo Single Camera app remains substantially more reliable. Same camera. Same user. Same cellular connection. Same field. Yet the simpler app consistently outperforms the flagship production app.

I stream youth baseball games. When this app crashes, parents, grandparents, and family members miss live moments that cannot be recreated. Home runs, game-winning plays, and tournament memories are gone forever when the stream fails.

Customer support has also been disappointing. Response times are slow, and getting meaningful technical answers has been difficult despite providing detailed testing information, screenshots, hardware specifications, and reproducible steps.

I am not a casual user leaving a review after one bad day. I invested significant money into the Mevo ecosystem because I wanted a professional solution for youth sports broadcasting. Instead, I spent months troubleshooting an app that feels far less reliable than the simpler software it is supposed to replace.

If your goal is a basic single-camera stream, the Mevo ecosystem can work well. If your goal is to rely on Mevo Studio/Multicam for important live events where reliability matters, my experience has been extremely disappointing.

Complete Garbage for Youth Baseball Streams – A Paid Downgrade

Don't get sucked into the marketing or the "Pro" subscription if you are trying to stream youth sports on a ballpark field. This app is complete garbage anywhere outside a climate-controlled house.
I was explicitly told by Mevo customer support to switch from the old single-camera app (which worked vastly better) to this Multicam app because I was having a minor issue with a graphic overlay. Now I see that was just a ploy to push users toward their subscription model.
The Multicam app is completely unstable. Out at the diamond, I get constant drops and endless freezing. While the interface looks cool and flashy at first glance, it is entirely impractical for real-world field use. As soon as the sun hits your iPad or iPhone, the app bogs down and becomes completely useless.
If you are a YouTuber streaming indoors with pristine home Wi-Fi, this might be fine for you. But if you are out on a hot baseball field trying to broadcast a game to GameChanger, do not waste your money on the Pro edition. Mevo clearly knows this app is broken because they constantly roll out updates to fix crashes, yet it still fails when it matters most. Avoid this headache and stick to simpler setups.

Mevo Start Camera failed to link with Mevo Studio App

Have had the camera for three weeks. No issues. All of a sudden I go to connect the camera to the app and it won’t connect at all even after doing a hard reset and factory reset. I’ve submitted a request with no response and no solutions.

I Actually Like This Release

After viewing the reviews on the version 4 release, I was a bit skeptical about updating. On last Saturday as I was preparing for Sunday Service, I noticed the Mevo Multicam app auto updated to Mevo Studio 4.04. I wasn’t happy about the auto updated but it forced me to deep dive and test in advance of service. To my surprise, I really only needed to re-add my two Mevo Start cameras and my Nearstream VM33 camera (via NDI). All previous camera controls were present. All of my previously developed overlays were also present albeit now lumped in with camera scenes. I reorganized the camera and overlay scenes to my liking, performed a pre-test, and everything worked flawlessly during service. Our volunteer who handles our livestream had no issues with the combined camera and overlay scenes. It actually makes selecting overlays easier. We are using a 2024 iPad Air to host the Mevo Studio app and we stream to Vimeo. From Vimeo we stream our Sunday service to YouTube, Facebook, and our website.

Horrible update

After over a year of very few issues the new update made the Mevo Studio unusable!! Sound randomly shuts off. Complete disaster! Wasted thousands on cameras.

Lost Mevo camera use

After this forced download I lost complete use of my Mevo camera. This new app is definitely not user friendly as the previous one was.

Last update broke it

Ever since the app changed from Mevo multi cam to Mevo studio it has been basically unusable. It crashes and freezes all the time now. Once even had an incident where it refused to remove a text overlay. Contacting support so far has gotten me nowhere, just a reply that my experience would be forwarded to QA. Until this is resolved I recommend against buying Mevo hardware or using Mevo software.

Lost the ability to Crop and Zoom

Horrible updates….everytime they push an update, part of the user interface does not work. This version has taken away the ability to crop the image of the camera. The update before it was the switching. Mevo fix it. We spend enough on your product. The least you can do is have a healthy back bone that supports your gear !

New update is garbage

The new update is an absolute disaster. People need to be fired.

Getting better

4.0.4 is definitely an improvement over 4.0. Thanks for adding back a quicker way to edit static text on simple overlays. The camera switching seems to be working and we were crash free with our last live streaming. Kinda wish the adjusting cameras were on a separate screen then the overlays, like they were before, because manipulating cameras can get accidentally mixed up with overlays and make for poor messed up streams. Thanks for addressing the more critical things so quickly though.

Response from developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback and we're glad things are working better. We've noticed a lot of feedback requesting folders or some type of organization. It's on the feature request list! Thanks again.

New UI is awful

Up until now the UI was passable, nothing special but fairly easy to understand. This new UI is genuinely terrible, it has made features more difficult to access and organized in a nonsense way. I do not want to manage my cameras in the same place I manage my slides, also I no longer have the ability to make over the shoulder slides in the bottom corner without dragging the slide to the location making an imperfect series as each one is in a slightly different location. This new interface is simply a downgrade.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. We hear you on wanting more organization between cameras and graphics and also on the graphic positioning. Positioning is coming back in the near future and we are working on an improved organization workflow.

New “studio” won’t connect

None of my cameras connect now. Spent 2 hours at a show trying to get them to connect and studio was unable, both on WiFi and cell. Do not update.

Last Update Doesn’t Work

This new update left me unable to record my kids baseball game with Mevo cameras. Too many changes and no native functionality left from previous version. I had to scramble and use my iPhone to broadcast the game for the team.

Update

After the last update, the app crashes after about 5-10 minutes of being logged in.

New update sucks

The new update completely broke the app for me. Can’t switch between mevo cams during live streams, connection issues. Everything was great with the old app.

Awful update

The new 4.0 is full of bugs. Absolute trash

Horrible Upgrade

By any chance, did you hire the developer(s) who ruined the Sonos app? You’ve destroyed the Multi-camera capability of this app. Even when all the cameras are at the latest firmware, being able to switch a live stream from one camera to another almost never works. You moved everything around and even doing the simplest of tasks like editing the text of an overlay is now buried 2 or 3 extra steps down. You’ve got to work on this.

Issue with update

Ever since the update on the 5th it has been adding black frames in between camera cuts. The settings show that there is no transition and nothing should be there. Because of this I have lost over 2 hours of useable video. Be careful with your next recording, make sure you do a test video before after the latest update.

The Latest Update to UI is Worse than if nothing changed

Before this update I was struggling to keep 2 cameras connected on my network but after this update the app crashed every 10 minutes or so even after severely reducing input resolution. Also Certain UI elements in the “Studio” Tab which are similar to functions in the “library” tab do not have any clear way to save the new setting and exit out/the keyboard will come up and block the graphic you are working on, issues which are not present in the “library” tab
