About
MicroCoach — Rehearsal & Assessment for Educators
MicroCoach helps adult educators rehearse, assess, and improve their teaching before it counts. Whether you're preparing for a microteaching assessment, a corporate training session, or a live facilitated workshop, MicroCoach gives you a structured space to plan, rehearse, and review your delivery against the criteria you'll actually be judged on — on your device, with no account required.
Plan your session
Build a timed session plan with individual segments, learning outcomes, trainer and learner activities, and cut-lines — notes to yourself about what to drop if you're running over. Flip through your plan as cue cards during rehearsal, or keep it running in the background while you present.
Rehearse with video
Record yourself delivering your session. MicroCoach tracks time against your planned segments in real time, flagging when you're approaching a limit and marking overruns. Prefer to import an existing recording? Bring in a video from your Photos library instead.
Get AI feedback against your rubric
After a rehearsal, MicroCoach transcribes your speech on-device, then assesses your delivery against your rubric — assigning a level (Developing, Competent, or Proficient) per criterion, with timestamped evidence and one concrete step toward the next level. It also estimates your talk-time split and analyses your questioning. AI feedback is opt-in: your transcript text is sent to Google's Gemini API only when you request it and grant consent. Your audio and video never leave your device.
Check your plan before you rehearse
Tap "Check plan quality" to get AI feedback on your session structure — whether your learning outcome is observable, whether your timing is realistic, and whether your segments build toward your goal.
Peer and facilitator feedback
Hand your phone to a classmate or facilitator during or after your rehearsal. They add timestamped comments tied to moments in your session, then hand it back — optionally locked behind Face ID. Peer rounds are kept separate from your own notes so you can compare perspectives.
Track your progress
The Progress tab shows how your rehearsals compare over time — your rubric grade per criterion and how it's trending, session length against target, talk-time split, and segment overrun patterns across multiple plans.
Assessment Day mode
When it's time for the real thing, Assessment Day mode runs your session plan with full segment timing but without recording — so you can stay on track during your actual assessment or live delivery without the overhead of video capture.
Question bank
Browse and favourite a library of questioning techniques — open, closed, clarifying, challenging, and reflective. Star the ones you use most so they're ready when you plan or facilitate.
Privacy by design
Everything is stored on your device — no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads. Transcription runs on-device. The only data that ever leaves your phone is your transcript text, sent to Google's Gemini API for AI feedback, and only when you explicitly opt in. You can revoke that consent at any time.
MicroCoach is built for trainers, lecturers, facilitators, and anyone who takes their teaching seriously enough to rehearse it.
