What happened?
This app was my goto midi app until this recent update. Sustained notes are being treated as staccato notes. It sounds bad and I will look for a new midi player in the meantime.
Cuts off the beginning of the song
I have used this app for years to learn hymns. Since the upgrade it cuts off the file at the beginning and starts it doesn’t start at the beginning.
So nice an app, so responsive the developer!
I gave a feedback a couple weeks ago, and wished the app can support adjusting the volumes of individual tracks. You know what? The feature is now added!
Defeating the purpose of sequenced music
Charging people to mute separate tracks defeats the purpose of sequenced music
Could be a 5 star if…
The biggest missing feature for me is adjusting the volumes of individual tracks, otherwise it can be a 5-star app. Other nice-to-have features could be zoom in/out and selecting a region to play.
Needs to be fixed
Whenever I click on another SoundFont, it just kicks me out of the app.
Best easy midi player
Definitely the beat i have used to just play quality midi files. Good sounding instruments. Set reverb to medium gall ir large gall and keep setting in the middle. Free trual, easy to learn how to use.
4.5 / 5
Great app, handles instrument changes on the fly better than most desktop apps. Would be perfect if it had export features and a playlist.
Best MIDI file player on iOS, but…
This app is without a doubt the best way to open and listen to midi files on an Apple device that isn’t a Mac. It is sometimes unstable, especially when changing sound banks (.sf2 soundfont files), but it is by far the best option to use midi on iOS.
With the most recent iOS update, however (iOS 26.1 [23B85], December 2025), changing soundfonts appears to crash the app no matter what; that’s why I can’t give this more than a 4 out of 5 rating.

Bug with iOS 26
It’s a great app. Worked well, until iOS 26 came. Now every time I switch a SoundFont, it crashes. Please fix this.
It’s pretty good but
Updating to iOS 26 broke the sound font change
I want a refund
This is just pure hot flaming garbage and I can’t believe I paid you guys
Midi Opener - Review
Great App! Fair price! Would give five stars if you add these two features:
1) Give us an option to build a Library structure with unlimited nested folders with lengthy naming conventions AND allow us to populate folders with pointers (NOT the actual Midi files) TO the Apple FILES app (like your folder that already does this). So, we get the juke box effect without having to hunt down and import the actual files every time.
2) Make this app as both "Stand alone" AND as an AUV3 plug-in, that can be hosted by ios "Hosts" like AUM, Ape Matrix, various DAWs like GB, Cubasis, Loopy Pro, Zenbeats, Nano Studio 2, Logic Pro for Ipad, etc. At an absolute minimum make it function as an IAA with audio hosts. (dinosaur legacy, but theres a ton of em' out there, better than nothin')
I love the features you include in your app, such as the ability to optionally use a different Soundfont, change tempo, and key, turn effects on and off individually, optional EQ section AND you actually display the name of the file (allowing lengthy titles, as Midi files can be). Well done! Stay with it!

Good App, just needs some changes
It’s a pretty good app, loads up Soundfonts just fine, but there’s 3 things that would make it better
1. Individual instrumental volume level: a setting where you can adjust the volume of one single instrument.
2. Exporting the song: it would be great if you have an option to export the song to any sound format, like WAV or MP3 or FLAC or etc.
3. App Design: it would be amazing if you can switch the color scheme for the app, like a green color or black, it would be awesome.
I definitely love this app, and would recommend to add those 3 features!

Please Update The App it’s Been 1 year
Excellent
I have downloaded this app so I can play all of my midi files. I tried to upload a sound font, but I couldn’t find where you go to upload one. After searching for a minute or so, I found where you upload sound fonts. I downloaded the Super Mario 64 sound font just because it’s a good sound font. I found a midi of “Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons and with the Super Mario 64 sound font, it sounded… …strangely beautiful. I downloaded some more midi files to test out what sounds good with the Super Mario 64 sound font, but I will still keep all of the midis even if they sound bad.

Great app, but can I export an edit to my files
How can we export tweaked files?
Great app for playing midis but one suggestion,
May you please add a spectrum editor for all the instruments or just the song in video form that we can save into our devices? Basically a spectrum video editor. If you do, Thanks alot.
Pay for everything
Unfortunately like many apps this app requires you to pay to use your own midi files, you can’t change the instrument type without buying features, even then they’re limited, they also don’t play the actual instrument associated with your midi file.
10/10 do not recommend sadly.
