Additional Layouts

Hi excellent app but i cant find a way to create a new layout with notes i choose. If i want to change thevexpresspad notes slightly i cant seem to do that apart from that brilliant. Thanks

Best MPE midi controller for IOS

I just love this app. The layout is simple and considered, compared to other MPE keyboard and pad apps I’ve used. A joy to use.

Amazing

Exactly what I was looking for - MIDI grid controller like Ableton Push or Novation Launchpad, in iPad app form :) If it's not too much trouble, could you please add AUV3 support? Right now you need to switch between fullscreen apps to use it, an option to run your app in a window inside a DAW would make it pretty much perfect!

Hey thanks for the kind words! I would love to make the app AUv3 compatible! But unfortunately, I can’t do that with Flutter yet, which is the Multiplatform framework I used to create it. The advantage was that I could make it usable with all types of tablets, but the problem with AUv3 is a bit of a bummer. I guess I could allow the app to be used in splitscreen as a stop gap solution?! I’ll experiment with that idea.

Auv3 request

I read the GitHub page in your faq regarding auv3 and flutter. However it looks like a user there provides a workaround that they used to get it working. If you got this working as an auv3 app then it’s usefulness would easily 10x since it could then be used in daws as a virtual instrument. Rather than being a cool self contained musical instrument, it would become a powerful compositional tool.

Thx for the tip. I am following this thread as well, but the solutions are still a bit hacky for my taste, and could easily break with Flutter or iOS updates. I definitely agree that AUv3 support would be awesome though and I am watching that space closely.

Excellent app to play the fourths strings layout

I am always on the lookout for apps that allow one to play music with the fourths strings layout, the very intuitive note arrangement that is used by the Linnstrument, the Novation Launchpad, among others. I was disappointed to find that one of the best such apps, expressionPad, was recently removed from the App Store, but I was quite pleased to discover this app, Beat Pads, which is really excellent and covers all the bases very well.

A feature request and a recommendation:

Feature request: I would also love to be able to play using a perfect fifths/fifths strings layout - the string arraignment of cellos, violins, and mandolins. Hopefully it can be added to Beat Pads at some point.

Recommendation: I would strongly suggest changing the name of the app to a name that better represents what it actually does. I never would have guessed that an app named “Beat Pads” plays actual notes since the name makes it sound like it would be just a drum pad app.

Build your own

This little app let me create just what I was looking for: a pad controller in a fourths string layout with a bigger than 4x4 grid. The customization is deep, but not bloated, and includes aftertouch and MPE options, so despite the app’s name, it’s great for melodic and harmonic use. In a perfect world, I’d have options for positional velocity, a hold button, and easy switching between layouts, but I’ve already got what I really need for a tiny price. It feel like the kind of tool built to meet one’s own needs and then graciously made available to others who might find it useful. Much thanks to the developer.

Hey thx for the kind words! I love your suggestions too. If I ever get a larger chunk of time, I would love to implement those.
