Works Well

I have been using this app to record pipe organ MIDI data for playback. I have been using a Yamaha Bluetooth MIDI adapter and it’s been very convenient. I also use a Yamaha MDF3 to do the same and it made me realize there is one feature I would really like to see in this app. The MDF3 allows the device to start recording as soon as it sees MIDI data of any kind, this makes it much easier recording performances as I don’t need to predict when the organist will start, please consider implementing this as a feature in a future revision please!

GIANT PEOPLE MUSIC PUBLISHING

I Hv Vs and the kids are going to have a good time

Easy to use and incredibly versatile

This app does everything you need right out of the box. I am able to play midi files easily now.

AMAZING GAME BUT YOU HAVE TO READ THIS

First of all, midi recorder is a great app and you can make music with it! But as well as an E.piano mabye you could add some more sounds, like, A piano, A synthesiser or some more E. Piano sounds. Btw I played e.piano so many times, I played guitar and xhylophone to, mabye you could add those presets aswell? If you disagree with my point, it’s fine. But if you could add some more sounds, voices, tones, presets… (they all mean the same thing do they) that would be appreciated! Thank you!

Great App

This is the most straightforward and no-nonsense app for midi that I’ve come across. I recently got a Bluetooth keyboard, and this is the only app that works with it. I really have no complaints.

NEEDS THIS

Nice little app but for the love of all that is good , please .please let us re-size the keyboard so we can se all the notes being played back at once without scrolling . I need to resource to another app to do this

Now if you want to get some serious money for your app , add selectable section loop and when pausing allow the notes / keys to stay highlighted on what’s being played !

Very useful app

Straightforward Midi recorder.

Several apps will record directly to it but others seem to need AUM.
Those that do work require no set up or fiddling around.

Midi can then be imported into GarageBand or Dorico

Good takes no space on my iPad

I think that this is going to work for me but I don’t know yet.oh and also it take up 2MB THAT IS INSANE.

When opening the file in another app, the opening app doesn’t play the file.

Great, simple tool that captures MIDI at a high time resolution

This app concept is very simple and performs one task pretty well. Afaik, it's the only dedicated recorder tool like this for iOS and MacOS, which supports the full 16 channels of MIDI.

I have noticed some issues with lost notes and incorrectly placed note-off events. Not sure why this is, but it is a repeatable issue I've encountered. In my application, I am often sending a large amount of multi-channel MIDI data at once, but unsure if this is the reason.

However, if you use Ableton Live and need a multi-channel MIDI file that runs close to the actual internal clock of Live, rather than the weak 96ppqn, single-channel export option it provides, this might be the only option, short of recording it into another DAW.

If there were a paid version of MIDI Rec, it would be an instant purchase for me with the addition of the following features—

-Type 1 MIDI file export
-Recording tempo selection
-External MIDI clock-sync
-Recording triggered by MIDI start message

Less critical, but very welcome would be a native MacOS UI version. ;)

No results

3 time used, no data recorded using my Steinberg UR 242, every thing says linked & checked. Can’t see any instructions although looks straight forward to use, just did’nt record. Trying to recover midi from my mums piano she played and recorded on Floppy disc as she has just passed before it is lost for good.

Simple, accessible midi recorder

This app is almost exactly what I was looking for. I am blind, and use the voiceover screen reader to access my phone. All of the buttons seem to be well labeled and it is simple to operate. I really appreciate the fact that it was free. there are a couple of features that I would pay for. The first one being a metronome. Also, it might be nice to have two tracks and the ability to combine them. Mostly the metronome is what I want though. I appreciate that there aren’t a lot of features though, as it makes it really simple to just click record and play my keyboard. Thanks for making an awesome app.

Super great app!

Super great app! Works flawlessly with my Casio WK-6600 midi keyboard! Recording works, I can control midi inputs and outputs, even the piano plays the recording from my device even when my devices volume is off but my pianos is on. I just have to press play on my device and watch the magic happen! Great job!

Perfect for Organ recordings!

This app is perfect to use as a MIDI sequencer for organs! But… please, please, PLEASE add a playlist feature that could play multiple files in a row!!

Nice and practical

This is by far the fastest most practical way to record a midi chord progression or idea on the fly on the IPAD …love this app!

Surprisingly pleased!

I’ve been looking for a MIDI recorder for iOS for a while, but I avoided trying this one because of the low amount of reviews. Eventually I ran out of other options and downloaded this app. I’m surprised - and relieved - to say that it works very well! I’m only using it to record MIDI files on my keyboard, but for that feature alone this app has earned my 5-star rating!

Import files please

Please add an import button to import external midi files, which can then be played out of the app.

Works well when it works

Does fine, but after a while the new recordings that I am making come out jumbled. Simultaneous scales are not synced in the file. Also, what do CC, SYSEX and OTHER buttons do?

Learning curve to use

I’ve recorded a couple of songs. I can’t figure out how to play them back now. When I press on the file, it just starts recording more. I’m very confused right now. Also, I can’t figure out how to turn off the sound coming from the app so that I only hear my piano. I don’t see the option to do so in the settings.

Great little app, just missing a couple of features

Just found this app which is great for recording a song on the go and then loading it up into your favourite midi app.

I would have given it 5 stars but feel that it is missing a metronome and also a way to change the BPM. With this, the app would be perfect for simple transcribing of a melody.
