File manager to nowhere

Spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out how to get to my .SYS files. Went online for help, that was a failure too. This thing needs to be updated or removed from the App Store in my opinion. 8 years without an update is pathetic.

Does it all!

Great for anyone using MIDI. SYSEX Librarian works with the latest gear. Only one request: landscape mode on iPad! Otherwise it’s just what I needed!

Did not function as expected

I bought this thinking I could use it to transfer SysEx files back and forth from my synth. I was wrong. The librarian function is an empty screen with /Documents displayed. Could not figure out how to load SysEx dumps into the app to transfer them. You can create folders but can’t open previously made folders, nor can you browse or import files & folders. Also could not find where the app creates a local folder, so I couldn’t even import them manually.

Like another reviewer said, the only help is all in Japanese (there’s only English for the help section headings, but not in the actual help itself). It annoys me that the developer took the effort to write an English description in the App Store, but didn’t make an effort in the app itself.

I too, have requested a refund. Certainly not worth £10 of my money.

Excellent

The best App Ive found found all kinds of midi related jobs. Great for backing up patches on Synths, Sysex etc. Future suggestions.
-Add Bluetooth midi connections.
-Add support so it works in background.
-All support in both screen orientations.

Very useful!

I use this to gather Sysex from an old MI Shruti synth. It works great. Batch file transfers and iCloud backups would be a welcome additions. I’ve really found your softwares key in my studio all the way back to when I was using it on PC. Keep up the good work!

Language issues

The user manual with in the app is in Japanese or another Eastern language and not English. I have had to go to the online website to find any information in English. Developer needs to correct this and also give more details about suggested connections and settings for various scenarios. This would make the software app more user friendly and helpful.

Doesn't work

My midi is properly connected over USB, and this app lists my um-one in settings. However, nothing displays in the event monitor, the keyboard doesn't play. I tried this on iPad and iPhone. This app doesn't work. Other apps do work, but this has a great combination of features so I wish if did.

Also note that this app only displays in portrait mode. So the Midi connector is pointed down and the ipad can't rest on the piano. Incredibly idiotic!

Pizazz

Don't waste your money on this. Not worth it and the instructions are not in English a problem if that is your only language. I want a refund.

IPad landscape PLEASE!

Painful to use as a musician without being able to switch to landscape mode.
Look elsewhere for less frustration.

SysEx and PC are perfect

I use it for doing bulk dump / load to Boss GT-100 (to manage livesets), and for this purpose it works very well. I bought the PC in-app module and it works flawlessly too.

Sends Sysex no problem.

Works great with my old Yamaha synth.

Virus Ti2 Dumps

I'm using a Roland um1 mkii with camera kit for patch dumps without having to bring a computer to rehearsal.

Super duper app

I bought this so I could bring my sysex patches to my ensoniq esq-m instead of having to bring my synth to my computer. It worked like a charm. I can see this does lots of stuff. It even plays sequences I think. I only tried the send receive for sysex patches and performed a successful test. I did make one setting change under preferences from 0-15 to 1-16. That seemed to do the trick. Can't wait to see what else it can do.

It Just Works!

This for me is almost the perfect app. I was looking for an app that I'd be able to communicate with my old Ensoniq ESQ 1 synthesizer. This thing does the job perfectly. It stores all my patches (a.k.a. presets), sequences etc. and it can send them back to the synthesizer. Among many other cool functions. This is worth every penny.

MidiBridge is also a great app. But this one, MIDI Toolbox, "Bridges" certain functions that I absolutely needed and he could find nowhere else. Did I say it was worth every penny? It's worth at least twice that.

Sure, I could do this before on my MacBook. But now I can do it right on my iPad. How cool is that?!?

It works

I used this app to transmit and receive sysex messages to/from my devices via midi. One file was downloaded and shared by iTunes. It worked perfectly. A little expensive in my case, as I need only for this function.

Very good!

I've tried it for a couple of hours only so far but I'm delighted to say it records and replays midi data flawlessly. It EVEN respects tempo changes (these elude many other apps). And it has a working STOP button (recently oddly removed from Line 6's "Midi Memo", rendering that app useless to me).

STOP seems to send all-notes-off ... A good plan. Needed!

And one can copy midi files into the app very fast, while it's connected to the iMac / pc so it need not always record in real time.

It's great. I'll explore the rest...

Needs Transmission Rate Selector

Cool APP for backing up Sysex files from gear. Unfortunately there is no ability to change the transmission rate of the Sysex messages being sent from the APP. Every file I've attempted to send from the APP to a piece of hardware has been corrupted due to the high rate of data transmission. This APP would be top notch if it had a transmission rate setting added, unfortunately at the moment it is useless for me.

Great with the Yamaha i-MX1

Been backing up all of my MIDI gear.

Totally useless

Terrible interface, no instructions, doesnt do as presented

Really too many bugs!

I originally tried to use this with the Alesis IO Dock and couldn't get the system exclusive... After I read that it has problems with the Alesis IO Dock, I bought the Yamaha I-MX1.... Got the exclusive to get in but apparently they limited the amount of data that it could record... Could not save all the data from my QY70.
There isn't much of a support page.
Also the monitor part of the app isn't consistent... Doesn't always work.
It's a great idea for an app, but more work needs to be done to make it worth the price.
