FAQ

What kind of weather information does Mil Weather provide?

Mil Weather provides detailed conditions relevant to planning, including light and visibility, wind speed and direction, precipitation probability and amount, temperature, dew point, and wind chill. It also offers illumination data like sunrise, sunset, and moon phases.

Can I use Mil Weather without an internet connection?

Yes, core calculations such as coordinate conversion, illumination math, density altitude, dew point, wind chill, and movement estimates run offline on your device. Live forecast data requires a connection, but the essential planning calculations do not.

How does Mil Weather handle location input?

Mil Weather allows you to enter locations by town name, latitude/longitude, or MGRS grid. It also supports pulling your current position via GPS. Coordinate conversion is highly accurate, working in both directions.

What are the calculated fields available in Mil Weather?

Calculated fields include density altitude for aviation planning, sea state for coastal and riverine work, and movement rate estimates that factor in terrain and conditions. These calculations are performed on your device.

Where does Mil Weather get its data from?

The app sources live data from public government sources, including forecast and marine data from the National Weather Service and NOAA, hydrology and river stages from USGS, and sun and moon calculations from the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Is my data safe with Mil Weather?

Mil Weather is designed for privacy with no account, sign-in, analytics, advertising, or tracking. Saved mission data stays on your device and is never transmitted to the developer.
