Who We Are Milestone International School is an exciting, progressive and inclusive learning community that is now open for applications for our K-12 programs! We are proudly a member school of AEMS - Akkad International Educational Management Systems. AEMS has expanding programs in different regions of the Middle East, including Jordan and Iraq and now, Turkey! AEMS is dedicated to providing powerful educational solutions to students and families throughout the Middle East. Our Vision Milestone International School – Istanbul believes that every child can strive to flourish holistically – academically, creatively, emotionally, socially and physically. Growth in all dimensions of the human experience will prepare children to not only be successful students but will prepare them to be responsible citizens of their home countries and the larger global community. Full participation in the 21 st Century community demands citizens to have responsibility, flexibility, knowledge and compassion. Our Mission At Milestone International School we dedicate ourselves to the holistic success of every child. We will provide a robust curriculum in core and specialist subjects to allow every student to fully meet their learning potential. We will utilize advanced and respected curriculum and digital technology. We will empower student success through students’ reflections, varied learning arrangements and challenges, and finding methods to allow every learner to fully express their understandings. We will adhere to following the best assessment policies to gain objective measures of growth and informed data on every child. We will aim to make learning a joyful experience that will become a life-long journey for each student. Our Learning At Milestone we provide a holistic education that allows every child to flourish to their own potential. We provide success for learners in core subjects and meet US Common Core and the California Department of Education standards. English is our language of instruction and we have substantial support systems in place to assist students for whom English is not their first language. We use digital devices and platforms to enhance learning and equip learners with the digital literacy required in the 21 st Century. We cultivate the values of learners through reflective cognition, the beauty of arts and music, and the recognition of social and emotional understandings. We develop students’ physical abilities through movement in time and space, using equipment and working as a team. Core Values At Milestone International School, we are creating an impactful core values system that will guide all of our students on their journey - instilling in them the values that they will require as responsible global citizens in the 21 st Century. Our core values are practiced and modeled by all staff and students, and provide a foundation to our wonderful learning community. Students will walk in the door at Milestone International School and enjoy a community founded in core values that every student, regardless of age, can understand and replicate. These core values are chosen to enable staff and students to reach their potential and feel empowered by knowing that every voice, idea and belief matter. Our core values at Akkad International are Tenacity, Innovation, Courage, Kindness. They will be communicated to and expected of every member of our learning community. They will form the “TICK” acronym which will be used throughout our system to reinforce expected outcomes from our staff and students.
