Defeats the purpose
Response from developer
Fair take, and I appreciate you following along this long. The app isn't trying to beat ChatGPT at searching the web the issue is that a lot of military discounts either aren't posted publicly or are out of date by the time you find them. We verify them and keep them current, plus the VA tools and card-benefit tracking, which aren't "deals" at all. If that's not worth it to you, no hard feelings. Thanks for giving it a shot.
Not free
Response from developer
Straight answer: it's a paid app. $12.99/month or $59.99/year, shown on screen before the trial starts. The 7 days are there so you can see everything and decide cancel inside that window and you're charged nothing. That's not hidden, and it's not a scam. It's a price you don't think is worth it, which is a fair thing to say. I'm one founder with a small dev team. Verifying discounts, keeping VA information current, and running the backend costs money every month. Free without a card would mean the app doesn't exist.
Terrible
Response from developer
On the reviews: I can't post them or buy them. Apple only accepts reviews from accounts that actually downloaded the app yours included. They're real, same as yours. On price and content: if you already know every discount you qualify for, every VA program, and every card benefit tied to your service, then the app honestly isn't for you. Most people don't, and that's who it's built for.
Freezing
Response from developer
That one's on me Explore and Map hanging in 1.0.4 was a real bug, not you being impatient. It's fixed in 1.0.5. Sorry you hit it before the fix shipped, and I understand the cancellation.
Don’t buy it!
Response from developer
Hi, I'm sorry for the frustration. This isn't the experience we want anyone to have. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and request a refund on the charge (usually processed within 48 hours). I'd also love to fix whatever wasn't working for you. Please email us at admin@militarybenefitsapp.com with your account email and what you were seeing, and I'll personally make sure you get a response.
It doesn’t work
Response from developer
Hi sorry about this, and thanks for the detail. This is almost always a sync issue between your purchase and your account. Two quick fixes: tap "Already a subscriber? Sign in" on the paywall, or go to Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases." If neither unlocks your access, email us at admin@militarybenefitsapp.com with the email you used, and we'll fix it on our end right away.
Great app but..
Response from developer
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! If something felt active-duty heavy, we'd love to know where so we can fix it. Money/savings tracking is a great idea and exactly the kind of tool we're building toward. On the cost: keeping it running isn't free, and the only way to make it free would be selling user data which we'll never do. The subscription is what lets us keep your info private and keep adding value. We hear you on the 'family helping family' spirit that's the whole reason we built this. 🇺🇸
Money grab
Response from developer
We take the word 'scam' seriously, so here's full transparency: there's a 7-day free trial, you can cancel anytime in one tap, and we will never sell your data. Keeping the app running and 40,000+ discounts updated costs real money charging is exactly what lets us keep your info private instead of selling it, which is how most 'free' apps actually make money. You're right that this should be vet-to-vet, and that's the point: we'd rather be upfront and earn it than monetize you behind your back.
Not free
Response from developer
Fair point, and thanks for flagging it. Two quick clarifications: there's a 7-day free trial, so you can use the full app before paying anything and the price is always shown before you subscribe. The 'Free (with In-App Purchases)' label is actually Apple's automatic tag for any app with a subscription; we're not able to change it to show the cost up front, even though we'd like to. That said, you're right that none of this should feel like a surprise we're working on making the trial and pricing unmistakable from the very first screen. Appreciate you taking the time.
Needs more for retirees
Response from developer
This is exactly the kind of feedback we hoped for thank you for taking the real time to write it. You've named the gap perfectly: the active-duty side has depth, and the retiree side needs to catch up. That's a genuine priority for us, not a someday. Your disability-pay-tables idea is a great one and squarely on our build list. We don't want this to be a once-a-year app for anyone the goal is something you open regularly because it keeps surfacing value, especially on a fixed income. You've given us clear direction, and we're going to act on it. Hope you'll check back as we grow.
Monthly subscription required for this app
Also this app: but you gotta pay a monthly subscription
I can just look this up on google for free…..
Response from developer
Fair you can absolutely Google any single benefit. The catch is that Google only helps with the ones you already know to search for. We pulled 40,000+ military discounts and benefits into one place, with eligibility sorted, so you find the ones you'd never have thought to look up that's the value: discovery and time saved, not info we're pretending is secret. There's a 7-day free trial to see whether it actually saves you that time before paying a cent. If it doesn't, genuinely no hard feelings.
Broken App
Response from developer
Appreciate the honest feedback, and sorry it fell short. If the streaming discounts (Disney+ and others) weren't easy to find, that's a real miss I'd genuinely like to know if they were buried or missing entirely so we can fix it fast. On access: there's a 7-day free trial for full access before paying anything, though your point about seeing value before signing up is fair and something we're actively improving. If you're open to another look, we'd like to earn a better score reach me us at admin@militarybenefitsapp.com
Improper Payment
Response from developer
This isn't okay, and I'm sorry both for the charge and for the silence after you reached out. A service member trying to get help and being ignored is the opposite of what we stand for, full stop. I want to fix the billing issue and refund anything charged incorrectly. Please email admin@militarybenefitsapp.com with 'IMPROPER PAYMENT' in the subject and it'll come straight to me I'll personally make it right. We dropped the ball on response time, that's on us, and we're fixing it so this doesn't happen to anyone else.
Great
Response from developer
Thank you, Marty "finally something to help veterans" is exactly what we set out to build. Means a lot coming from the community we made this for. More on the way. 🇺🇸
App Glitch
Response from developer
Thanks for giving it a try. Getting stuck on one screen isn't how the app normally runs, so something specific is going on email us at admin@militarybenefitsapp.co, with your device and iOS version and we'll fix it fast. For the record, this is built and maintained by a real team, and it's paid for one reason: keeping it running and your data private, never sold, costs money. We're proud of what we've built for the military community, and we'd like the chance to show you it works the way it should.
Doesn’t work
Not working
Response from developer
Sorry it wouldn't load that's not the experience the vast majority of our users have, which tells us something specific is going on with your setup. Send us your device and iOS version at admin@militarybenefitsapp.com and we'll get you running. The app works, and we'd like the chance to prove it to you.
Waste of Money
Response from developer
I appreciate the honest take, and you said it yourself the structure has potential, and we're building on it every day. But first things first: being charged after you cancelled is a real error and I want to fix it. Email me directly at admin@militarybenefitsapp.com and I'll personally refund that charge. We're a real team building this for our own community, and I'd rather earn your trust than argue so let me start by making your refund right.
The app isn’t working
Response from developer
Really useful feedback thank you. Three things: we're fixing the freezing as a priority, we're expanding lodging and local discounts beyond just on-base options (you're right that's thin right now), and on data, this matters most: we do not sell or mine your information, period. That's actually why the app is paid selling data would be the "free" route, and we refuse it. If we earn your trust on those, we'd love to win you over. Open to hearing more anytime at admin@militarybenefitsapp.com
App does not work
I have been unable to sign in using either Google or Apple, and the account creation process never completes successfully. I’ve attempted multiple times without success. To make matters worse, the support options through the App Store don’t appear to work either, leaving me with no way to get assistance.
It’s disappointing because the app looked promising enough for me to become a paying customer. However, I’ve paid for a subscription and still can’t access the product. For an app being actively advertised and accepting subscriptions, the onboarding and support experience should be far more reliable.
I understand there may be growing pains if this is a newer platform, but these are fundamental issues that need to be addressed quickly. Until then, I can’t recommend paying for a subscription.
Response from developer
This is a serious one, and I'm sorry paying and then being unable to sign in should never happen, and you're right to call it out. We're treating sign-in and account-creation failures as our top priority and actively fixing them. In the meantime, I don't want you paying for something you can't access: please email me directly at admin@militarybenefitsapp.com (subject: CAN'T SIGN IN) and I'll either get you in or refund you right away. Your detailed report genuinely helps us fix it faster thank you for taking the time, and I'm sorry it cost you this much hassle.
