About
Milk Ready
Know when it's safe to breastfeed after drinking alcohol.
Milk Ready helps breastfeeding mothers make informed decisions about alcohol and feeding with personalised estimates and an easy-to-use countdown timer. Whether you're planning ahead or you've already had a drink, Milk Ready provides estimates to help you know when you can safely feed your baby.
Two ways to calculate
Plan before you drink
Know how much you can drink before a planned breastfeed.
Use "How Much Can I Safely Drink?" to estimate the maximum amount of alcohol you can consume based on your planned feeding time.
Simply enter your planned feeding time and the type of alcoholic drink you plan to consume.
Milk Ready estimates how many servings of your chosen drink you can have, helping you plan ahead with greater confidence.
After you've had a drink
Use "When Can I Safely Feed?" to estimate when you can safely feed after consuming alcohol.
Simply record the drinks you've consumed and the time they were consumed.
Milk Ready calculates your estimated BAC based on your personalised data and provides a live countdown showing when it is expected to fall below your selected threshold. Your countdown automatically updates as you add additional drinks.

Built on established alcohol metabolism models
Milk Ready estimates blood alcohol concentration (BAC) using established alcohol metabolism models together with information about your drinks and personal profile. Results are personalised estimates only and should be used as a guide.
Health authorities recommend avoiding alcohol while breastfeeding where possible. If you choose to drink, allowing sufficient time for alcohol to clear from your bloodstream can help minimise your baby's exposure. Milk Ready supports this guidance by helping you estimate when your BAC may return below your selected threshold.
Important
Milk Ready is an educational and decision-support tool. It does not provide medical advice and cannot guarantee when alcohol has completely cleared from your body or that breastfeeding is risk-free. Alcohol metabolism varies between individuals based on factors including body composition, food intake, liver function and overall health.
If you are unsure whether it is appropriate to breastfeed after drinking alcohol, seek advice from your doctor, midwife, lactation consultant or another qualified healthcare professional.
