DISGUSTING SCAMMY APP
UPDATE1: No money back, their helpline is worthless and apple does not help either this app and its money hungry developers can go to hell
UPDATE2: They lowered the fees to half of what it was yearly WITH 25% DISCOUNT after super-charging me. Speaks to the fact they KNEW they were Scamming people.
I was looking for an app like Duolingo to learn the C and C++ language, and Mimo popped up. Much like any other app, I started the free trial without thinking much of it, I explore a bit and upon finding there’s no C course, and I stopped using it and forgot about it about it. Then a couple days later I get charged an absurd amount, that I find to be the annual subscription for this app. I contest it on apple’s site twice, but both times I am denied, the reasoning being that despite my total lack of use, and having asked the refund literally the day after being charged, and NOT EVEN having chosen the subscription post-trial myself, the annual subscription was discounted and therefore I cannot receive a refund. This is an ill-intentioned practice at best. I have now requested a refund again through their official website, and I was told I will have to wait 10+ days before even hoping for a reply. Should this, hopefully, be a complete oversight or a mistake, I will be glad to update this review, but as of now, it just feels like a scam.

Easy to start
The free version could be better. It doesn’t let you do much for the day. Even if your not messing up it only lets you do so much a day.

Hey, good news — Mimo is still mostly free! We believe learning should be accessible to everyone. The premium stuff (ad-free, certificates, exclusive projects) is what keeps the app alive. And as we grow, we'll keep adding more free content too. Thanks for supporting what we do!
Formerly flawless. Now, corporate and replaceable.
If you just wanted to learn and wait for your hearts to replenish while you go do your schooling or working or living, you could do that. Free.
It was epic. Quirky, fun, simple. Unique.
Either the devs went corporate and now answer to shareholders, or they are struggling to keep this juggernaut standing, or they just got greedy.
Now, you can sample the first lesson of any language, and if you want more, you must subscribe to do literally anything further. It is no longer pay to add value. It is pay to do anything at all.
Now, this isn’t necessarily a problem if you really enjoy the platform. It does make bite sized modules very intuitive to learn. It is a lot of fun.
However in a world where everyone is charging monthly to do anything on their platform (also after a paltry “sample”), it’s hard to stay loyal to any one platform.
