Great app but…

New to the app, but so far very pleased with it. I do have some quality of life improvements that I’d love to see added. I’m a flight dispatcher at major U.S. Airline. With that said, having push notifications come to my phone or watch is great for an extra layer of situational awareness. In one shift I’m responsible for being in the know of many airports. On a bad day up to 20-30 airports between origin airports, destination airports, take off alternates, destination alternates, drift down alternates, critical terrain alternates, and intermediate alternates. Long winded I know, but I mention that to drive home this suggestion. I would love to see and even be willing to pay more for the ability to select multiple airports multiple alert types under one push notification rule. As of now I want to know when any of our hubs is below 2000ft ceilings and 3SM. Took me quite awhile to set up notifications for 7 airports (14 individual push alerts). I would also love the option to select persistent alerts where I tell it to alert me each time the alert criteria is met until the end of the timeframe I select. I hate how I tell the app to monitor for ceilings or vis and it expires after the criteria is met despite selecting 5 hours. If I choose 5 hours, I’d like that alert to remain active for 5 hours.

I understand that this may not be what the app is intended for, but I also believe there is a market for it. Something like this would work its way around the part 121 world pretty quick. From pilots, dispatchers, station leadership, flight ops/dispatch leadership. Would also love to see other threats added as well. Thunderstorms, gusts with users able to select desired velocity (wind gusts >30kts), non-convective wind shear in a TAF. I think this app has so much potential to do even more and broaden its user base.

Fantastic app

Just upgrading to CA at a regional airline, this app really helps with quickly checking if we need an alternate, and with being able to customize the minimums you can really help in determining legality when using exemption 17347 or the old 3585, also high mins Captains. Fantastic job, love the interface. God Bless.

Awesome App! Fantastic responsiveness form Developer

I have been using this app for the past 2 years and love it. It tells me what I need to know at a glance, and is flexible enough to adapt it to your needs. When I had some issues (user issues.. not app issues) the developer was amazingly responsive. Double thumbs up👍👍 from me! Get it try it. You will be happy.

FAQ

What is Minimums and what does it do?

Minimums analyzes aviation weather reports (METARs and TAFs) to help pilots determine if airport conditions meet their custom minimums for takeoff, landing, or alternate flights. It provides a clear visual indication of whether conditions are above, at, or below these set minimums.

How does Minimums help pilots with custom minimums?

You can set your personal, company, or legal minimums for ceiling and visibility at any airport. The app then displays whether current and forecasted weather conditions meet these specific requirements, making it easy to see which airports are suitable for your flight.

Can Minimums alert me to weather changes?

Yes, Minimums allows you to create custom alerts that notify you via push notifications when specific weather criteria are met, such as visibility exceeding a certain threshold or the ceiling reaching a desired height. This means you don't have to constantly check the app.

What units can I customize in Minimums?

You can customize units for visibility (miles or meters), wind speed (knots or meters per second), pressure (inches of mercury or hectopascals), and temperature (celsius or fahrenheit). Time can be displayed in UTC or local time.

What are the limitations of the free version of Minimums?

The free version of Minimums limits you to a maximum of 5 airports in your station list. It also does not offer suggested minimums or push notifications for alerts, though you can see which airports have suggestions available.

Does Minimums have ads?

No, Minimums is ad-free. The application does not contain advertisements, providing an uninterrupted user experience for pilots.

Is Minimums available on all devices?

Minimums is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices. It is designed to be compatible with Apple's iOS ecosystem.

How often is Minimums updated?
