Incredibly good app
This app does an amazing job at meeting the needs of intermediate Russian language learners. The user interface is beautiful and a pleasure to use, but below the surface it is paired with thoughtful and intelligent pedagogical design.
Mishka combines a number of existing kinds of apps in one. It has spaced repetition of flashcard apps like Anki. One feature that I love it that you card click on any word practical anywhere (e.g., from stories) and easily add it to you deck of to-be-learned words.
The stories are great - both as a listening and reading exercise. There are followed by questions that test comprehension AND GRAMMAR.
The grammar lessons and quizzes are particularly well done. There is actual explicit grammatical instruction and the questions focus on applying these idea. In Russian, the case declension system is very challenging to learn. Having completed the entire DuoLingo Russian course, I have never once experienced targeted testing of word endings. Mishka does exactly this. The app focuses on these important and difficult grammatical concepts, giving learners the practice they need, but does so in an intelligent and supportive way, with explanations about what is happening in the language.
I cannot recommend this app more highly. It’s clear to me that it was created by people who genuinely know what they are doing in terms of both software/app development and importantly language instruction.

Perfect. Exactly what i was looking for!
Russian is my native language, but since I live in Germany, I’ve been looking for an app to improve my vocabulary, grammar, and especially things like slang, idioms, culture, and expressions you usually only pick up by actually living in a Russian-speaking country.
I’ve tried apps like Duolingo, but even after testing into a higher level, the exercises never really helped me improve. Mishka is completely different. I’m using the Intermediate level and finally feel like I’m actually learning new things. I especially love the realistic AI chat scenarios and the stories, which are genuinely interesting and informative.
I also really like the explanations after exercises. Instead of just telling you whether something is right or wrong, they explain why and how the grammar works in that specific context, which makes it much easier to actually understand and remember.
My only criticism is that a lot of content is locked behind Pro and the subscription is quite expensive, especially as a student. I also wish there were more stories to choose from. Still, easily one of the best Russian-learning apps I’ve found! ❤️🐻

The Best
This is by far the best Russian learning app I’ve ever had the pleasure to encounter… it tests you first to figure out at what level you’re at and then it teaches you all you need to actually learn, especially the Grammar which is complex for because of the cases which are the biggest hurdle to learn and dominate! Being able to learn the WHY and HOW of each case and see it in use is such a huge plus… I’m recommending this app to everyone I know who shows any interest in learning Russian. With consistency and practice you can REALLY get your Russian to the next level.

The implementation of AI and animations with a better approach of teaching the student is so much better than other apps and documentation for russian i must say i recommend it full heartily

Absolutely Excellent App
This app is brilliant. It’s entirely catered toward learning Russian and feels like a relatively complete resource. Some of the AI-generated elements are a little rough around the edges, but overall everything is excellent. Thoughtful features are continuously added and I’m genuinely excited to see the direction the app takes in the future. Спасибо большое друзья!

I really enjoy using Mishka to help me learn Russian. It is super easy to use, fun and challenging.

Glad the grammar is landing. Try the stories section next if you get a chance: it's where the cases you've been drilling start showing up in context, and it's the part most people tell us made things click.
Potential to be a game changer for Russian learning
This app has the potential to be a stand alone language learning app. It has pretty much everything you could want. Case practice, reading, vocab, listening, verbs of motion and pretty much anything else you can think of! The problem is it’s not completely set up yet. Each part of the grammar section has a huge amount of practice subsections, but only the very first part has been programmed in. So you have around 8 sections, but can only use 1 for each section. I will try this app again in a few months time and am excited to do so… but it just isn’t ready yet.

You were right to hold off, and I'm glad to say it's ready now. All the practice subsections you found empty are filled in, and Grammar Mastery has landed too, a deeper set of tracks built with a certified Russian tutor that takes each topic across multiple lessons. You said you'd try again in a few months and the timing is about right. Would love to know what you make of it.

The Mashka app is a great tool for learning Russian. Everything is explained in a simple and clear way, and the exercises are interesting and not boring. I especially like that you can learn at your own pace and immediately see your progress. It’s a great choice for both beginners and those who want to improve their Russian skills!

Incredibly balanced and effective!
I’ve been chipping away at Russian on and off for years, and made some progress, but Mishka is a next-level tool for learning! The perfect balance of focusing on reading and listening to native speakers, customized spaced-repetition flash cards, fill-in-the-blank, matching, and a little bit of gamification, all in a super slick and professional technical package.
One suggestion for future updates: I’d love to see an easy way to listen to a playlist of audio while doing chores, commuting, etc. maximum audio input is key to language learning, so I’d love to listen to all the lessons I’ve already completed, for example, in a loop.

Great App for Russian Learners
Great app for anyone wanting to start learning Russian or pick up at an intermediate level. It covers all proficiencies ranging from A1 to C1, and you can do a test in the beginning to help you decide where to pick up from. I like that you can also freely switch between levels, without having to fiddle with any settings, and the lessons get instantly adjusted to that difficulty. I think by far the best feature (and one which I would love to see in other language learning apps) are the explanation bubbles that appear once you solve a sentence. They explain explicitly why the word is correct and how it fits in that context. So you are not just memorizing words by appearance but actually learning how sentences are build grammatically. The UI is also generally very easy and intuitive to navigate. Overall great app and I hope to see it expanded to offer other system languages besides English :)

Next Best Language Learning App
This app is totally revolutionary! It took the ideas of many other well-known language apps and then added necessary grammar and curriculum guides. It’s totally adorable, user friendly, and seriously well-thought out. I love the stories section; how it’s narrated and can be paused, that words can be pressed on for definition and pronunciation. I love that the tests at the end of each story have 3 parts; comprehensive, grammar, and recall. This is a mega combo for fast learning. This is the kind of learning that sticks with you. Meaningful learning. I also love there there are so many sections to work on so you never feel bogged down by repeating the same tasks over and over. This app is going to take the Russian language community by storm!
