Frustrated

After several tries to create an account, I was finally able to make it work. There is no way to reset a lost password that I have found. I tried to report lesser celandine in Ted black woods and it took me to a screen that said “habit” :( I was excited to use this app but now it seems to be unusable

Can’t complete registration

I’ve tried several times to register (and used 2 different email addresses to do so), but an email link to complete registration never came to me. Checked junk mail and filters, not there either. Not sure if using this app without completing registration actually results in reporting invasives or if I’m wasting my time. Please fix app now or I will be deleting it!

Finally works again!

I’m not sure what changed, but the app finally lets me open the report feature without going to a blank screen and freezing. Nice!

Does not work

This would be great in keeping up with reporting invasives. Unfortunately I can’t even load the main screen of this app anymore. Also it’s still formatted for old iPhones, and not the modern 16:9 displays of the X and above. Just needs to be overhauled, really.

Not working!

I was able to log in but It is only taking me to a blank page titled habit. I can’t find a directory of plants, anywhere to write anything or a place to attach pictures. The website was crashing every time I tried to submit my report, so I downloaded this app thinking it should be easier. Not the case… this app seems worthless.

Does not support modern screens

Come on. Support big screens

Response from developer

Hi jbensman, there is an icon that appears on iPads at the bottom right corner that will enlarge the screen size. Would you be able to provide us with more information on what device you are using and if you do not see this standard icon by emailing us at info[at]misin.msu.edu ? Thank you

Allows you to see where others have reported sightings

I wanted to find places with invasives to fish and I’ve found them thanks to this app.

Gonna go scout out a couple local-ish lakes now 👍

Does it work?

I reported several invasive near us but the never appear on the map.

Response from developer

Hi Michigan Bob - If you could please e-mail us at info@misin.msu.edu with more information on where in the app it is locking up for you we would really appreciate it. Screenshots of any error messages would also be a huge help with correcting this issue.

Works fine for me

The register page wouldn’t load on the app so I just registered on their website and then logged in on the app and it worked fine for me. Location & maps are accurate too. Very easy to use and has a lot of information about the invasive as well as being able to report if they are present or absent.

Doesn’t work

App prompts me to register, but register page is blank. Won’t let me do anything without a registered account.

Response from developer

Hi GibletsAlsoOkay - the registration page does take a few seconds to load because it is loading an external webpage inside the app. If it does take longer than a few seconds - could you please e-mail us at info@misin.msu.edu so that we can look into this problem you are experiencing. You can also register on our website: https://www.misin.msu.edu/

Impossible to use

I know the two invasives I want to report. Instead of searching, I’m forced to scroll through all the alphabet until I get to the letter J. When I click on Japanese Knotweed, I’m asked to log in (again). Then, I’m forced to start all the way back at “A”. This gets a big thumbs down from me. I’m not happy with my Alma Mater. 👎

Response from developer

Hi Zekespinkmama - would you be able to e-mail us at info@misin.msu.edu with more information on the device you are currently trying to use the MISIN app on and the issues you are experiencing? Being asked to log in multiple times is not normal behavior so we would like to look into this issue more. Our website also offers the ability to report your observation without needed to scroll through the species list.

It just doesn’t work

It just doesn’t work.

Response from developer

Hi Eju1212 - If you could please e-mail us at info@misin.msu.edu with more information on exactly what is not working for you we'd be happy to look into the problem and get it corrected as soon as possible.

Just not reliable

I really want this App to work and help provide information to the various groups that use the data, but frequently the App crashes, locks up, or refuses to login.

Response from developer

Hello - please e-mail us with more information about the issues you have been experiencing so that we can look into the further. Previous issues of registering/logging in have been addressed and should not pose a problem at this moment. Thank you.

App broken

This app will not work on my 5s with iOS 11.0.3.

It won't load any animals or plants to pick from, and freezes not allowing me to do anything other than a force close of the app.

Response from developer

Please e-mail us with more information about this issue so that we can look into the problem. Thank you!

Location data busted

The developers need to update this app. A somewhat incomprehensible error dialog pops up: "Enable the GPS localization GPS parameters of your phone". However, there is no settings option for MISIN in the iPhone settings. It appears that they have not updated the app to keep up with iOS. MSU should be embarrassed for promoting this when it doesn't perform at the most basic level.

Response from developer

Prior to software updates, in order to enable the GPS, you had to exit the app and go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Scroll down to find the misin app and select "while using app". An alert message now appears within the app, requesting access to your current location.

Doesn't work

Enable GPS localization error but there's no option to allow GPS access in the app settings

Response from developer

Prior to software updates, in order to enable the GPS, you had to exit the app and go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Scroll down to find the misin app and select "while using app". An alert message now appears within the app, requesting access to your current location.

Doesn't Work

It keeps saying its waiting for GPS coordinates, but it never asked for access to location information so it will never get them.

Prior to software updates, in order to enable the GPS, you had to exit the app and go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Scroll down to find the misin app and select "while using app". An alert message now appears within the app, requesting access to your current location.

Great app!

So comprehensive. Great pics and info.
