Made a booking with a host. Funds taken. Host cancelled. Funds will take a week to be refunded. Now stranded
The notifications are rubbish but otherwise good app
The app is great. When getting messages from other members there is no notifications popping up. Especially when it’s on the iPhone and a lot of other users saying that the same thing about pop up notifications!
I no longer trust this platform
I wanted to support an LGBTQIA+ travel platform, but my experience with Misterbandb completely destroyed my trust in it.
A listing advertised an “Entire place” and “Three-Bedroom Apartment,” yet checkout simultaneously stated “5 guests, 1 bedroom” while asking me to commit to a $1,570.94 non-refundable reservation.
I contacted support before paying because I simply wanted to know what I was purchasing. I provided screenshots, followed up repeatedly, and even called and left a voicemail that was never acknowledged or returned. It took five days to get a substantive response.
Misterbandb ultimately told me they could not confirm whether I would actually receive the entire three-bedroom apartment because the listing came through their partnership with Booking.com, and suggested I book there instead.
I wasn’t shopping on Booking.com. I was shopping on Misterbandb. Misterbandb displayed the listing and was willing to take my non-refundable payment, yet could not verify what it was selling me or take responsibility for the contradictory information on its own platform.
I decided to delete my account. In one final bit of absurdity, the app asked why I was leaving, gave me a box for feedback, and then the Continue button didn’t work.
I wanted to trust and support a platform created for the LGBTQIA+ community. Instead, I’m leaving because I cannot trust its listings, customer support, or accountability when something goes wrong.
