Its Ok

It does what it needs to do. the UI needs some work to make it more attractive. Also need ability to space without hitting SHIFT key.

Lost work

Simply put, how do I get back lost work?! I would like a response to this question please.

On screen keyboard does not disappear

The on screen keyboard does not disappear like it does on the Hanx.

Request to update the keyboard layout

The font type of the app is appealing.
May I request an update to complete keyboard that have all the symbols (such as < >, [ ] and { })?
I have Hanx writer, it's a good app. If you can add wifi keyboard support to hide the keyboard, Hanx writer will be overtaken.
It's time to give it an update in 2 years for a 10 year old classic.

Can't use it anymore on my old iOS 9

I am very disappointed. Can't use it anymore even if I paid for it.

Oh well...

Had 1st Generation iPad with iOS 5 for 7 years, could have keep going, but had to buy 6th Generation iPad with iOS 11. Now far too many of my old apps can no longer work on new, to make things worst, they’re no longer on Apps Store. I’m very glad that mTypewriter app is still on the App Store and that I can re-download it. I’ve always used it for years, typing up shopping list, tasks I need to do, reminders, whatever, and exported them to Photo Album, and printed them off, carried the typed list on paper when it’s not good to use an iPad. I really like the class look of a list typed up from an old typewriter.

I want to buy the developer a drink and celebrate the 10th anniversary of mTypewriter if it is coming at all, unless it already came and went? Then I hope mTypewriter is still there for the 20th anniversary.

I would not want to miss this app, it is one of the great apps I have even seen, I often use it either typing on screen or using a wireless keyboard.

After all these years, my favorite app

Please don’t try to review this app if you’ve never used an actual manual typewriter (that means one not powered by electricity).

This reminds me of my mother’s 1935 Underwood and is just as unforgiving, as a typewriter app should be. She typed my father’s master’s thesis on it, and they weren’t even married yet.

MiTypewriter also reminds me of an original 1984 Mac Classic SoundMaster program that added old typewriter noise with each keystroke and made that awful first keyboard semi-usable — even pleasant to use. As an early adopter who spent hours on it every day, that meant a lot.

I return to this app again and again in lieu of Notebook™, Teams™, Word™, Pages™, Notes™, and all the other soulless word processing programs when I need something peacefully analog, an app that unites fingers with some of the other five senses.

My dear millennials, I pray that you find a real typewriter to play with before they disappear altogether, because this is the next best thing. Which is not saying much, I grant you. But when they’re all gone, what else will there be that is this satisfying?

Yeah, okay...

...but I really wish there was the option to hide the virtual keyboard when typing. I just want to see my own real keyboard. Also, unlike a real typewriter, you can only single space. It shouldn’t be hard to add a double space option. Also, be forewarned that on my new iPad Mini I can barely only see one option. Are there more? I really hope that the developer reads this and can make this truly a five star app. I really only think it’s 3.5 or even just 3 stars, but I’m being generous. If it wasn’t for these issues then this would be way better than the black Hanx typewriter NOTE: I can’t stand the look of his other ones, nor the either too small or too large a font, but at least I don’t have to see a keyboard, just the carriage and platen part. So, for this reason I’m going back to using the black typewriter in the Hanx app and put up with the too small a font and single spacing.

This is the best, most reliable typewriter app on the iPad

Thank for creating such an outstanding app! It is the most reliable typewriter app in the App Store. Hanx writer is good, but export problems keep me from making it my go-to typing app. Thank you creating such a great experience that brings creating great content back to its distraction free roots! Keep up the great work!

Love update 10/2014

Love this app. Really inspires the writer in me!
Still the best. Have Hanx Writer and Typing Writer. Only miTypewriter lets me easily export my text to other apps. Also by far the most detailed and realistic interface.

10/17
thank you for update! may fav typing since the begining💜

Lost work... Unforgivable

I have to say that this app seemed to be what I was looking for. After trouble kept arising with the Hanx typewriter app I was looking for something that could take the place and provide me with the sounds and feel of the past. As far as that is concerned it did great.

What I did not see coming was that one of the features would erase an entire page of words. After further attempts to get my work back I realized that when getting a new page, if by some accident of a finger slip when moving the iPad you happen to double touch the previous page, it will duplicate that page on top of your existing second page. It will not move your next page over to create this duplicate. No. It will copy the page directly in place of your existing next page and all words will be lost.

I read many reviews and have not seen this so I must be the only fool this has happened to. In any case, this is an unforgivable design flaw that I can't work my way around. I have never left a review on an app before good or bad, yet this is without a doubt the worst mistake a designer could make. For a writing app the user must feel their work is safeguarded against simple movements. Beware. I will not be using this app again until such a flaw is corrected.

I love it

I love this app, just used it to type place names etc for my travel journal, just replaced the white paper in the printer to more of a taupe colour and cut them into strips.
I bought a similar app which was like 4 times as much and didn't work at all well.
I would like to make a couple of suggestions to the makers: additional type options would be great for example much larger letters.
The second suggestion would be colored ink choices,i would love to use black paper and have the print in white for scrapbooking etc.
I will also add that the sound is just lovely, it's kind of calming !! And the bar to bring it back for the next line plus manually moving the roller? To make the spaces wider if needed, very nostalgic

Cluttered

Not great. Sorry. Three quarters of the screen is taken up by the virtual keyboard, which was probably super fun to design but isn't very useful when you're using an external keyboard. That leaves a strip of paper about half an inch tall for you to view while typing your document. Would be much better if the keyboard disappeared when you're connected to a real one so you can see what you're doing. The sound effects and simulated fonts aren't very good either. Sorry, guys.

good but Hanx is better

Sorry to disagree with the other reviews but, for me, this app feels like it's a digital copy of a typewriter whereas the Hanx app feels like you're actually using a typewriter. I will admit that this app is beautiful but it's the sounds that let it down. It's just too tinny, as though someone is hitting a tin lid for each key press and also it sounds distant, like you're hearing someone typing in the next room.

myTypewriter

I wish it were possible to import a photo and type on top of it. That is a disappointment.

Typing class

Made me remember how much I hated typing class. Liked IBM better.

blurry

i like the overall performance, but the keys and text look blurry... is there a retina version for ipad?

It's ok, but...

I quite like the way this imitates a real typewriter, but the quality of the image of the typewriter and the text on the paper is just not good enough not to be distracting. I was also attracted by the glass key tops but I would rather be using the plastic keys of the Hanx Writer for all that could be just slightly better with what is still a relatively new app. I have several real typewriters and this is almost good enough but just not quite. sorry!

Great App - well- designed

Thank you for making this clever app. Very easy to access options, such as print. No ' glitches' such as frozen screen evident and easy to email and send to files. Attractive and authentic touches - very likeable type-face, great sounds. And allows more hands on stuff such as return lever than other similar apps. Perhaps may benefit from more ribbon colour choice, such as blue ?

Near Perfection

Great imitation of a manual typewriter and fun to use. Only issue is that both of the parenthesis keys and the backslash key do not work on the Amazon Basics Bluetooth keyboard. Please fix!
