I was running into the same problem as you were with the app stopping at the finger foam and then nothing.
Well today I had the bright idea of using it while connected to a wifi spot.
And wouldn't you know it! It works now!
I registered created a user account and it runs good now. It even works over the cellular network. I use the Edge network.
Get yourselves the free "easy wifi" app,
Then head to starbucks, connect to wifi via "east wifi" then register and enjoy!
