About
Some shapes survive being drawn flat. Most of the interesting ones don't.
Model Room brings 168 models across six galleries to your iPhone. Turn a mathematical surface, open a planet, compare organs or follow a moving machine. Each model comes with an explanation of what you are seeing—and why its shape matters.
Nineteenth-century universities kept rooms of physical models because some things only make sense in three dimensions. This is a room you can carry with you.
MATHEMATICS
Explore 53 curves and surfaces. Space curves cast dotted shadows onto three coordinate walls, revealing how one shape becomes three different pictures. Move a point along a curve or across a surface and inspect its coordinates.
Discover knots, the Lorenz attractor, a Möbius strip with one side and one edge, and the surprising geometry of the Klein bottle and Boy's surface.
CHEMISTRY
Fifty molecular and crystal structures in two complementary views: ball-and-stick reveals their connections; space-filling shows how atoms occupy space.
See methane's tetrahedral shape, compare cyclohexane's chair and boat forms, or explore the repeating arrangement of a crystal. Colours identify elements, while Details explains the structure on screen.
PHYSICS
Look inside moving mechanisms, explore magnetic fields and trace light through lenses and cameras.
Follow a watch movement, play a music box, watch a Jacquard loom or explore a canal lock and boat lift. The folding camera includes an image view with selectable apertures, so you can compare how the scene appears on its ground glass.
SPACE
Explore nine celestial bodies, their interiors, rings and available moon systems.
See the Milky Way as a model built from measured galactic structure, with a clear marker showing our Solar System's position. Switch to the Orion Arm, or explore the Solar Neighbourhood, where labelled stars occupy positions based on astronomical measurements.
ANATOMY
Select several organs together and see how they fit within the same anatomical frame. Keep the torso skeleton visible for context or focus on the organs themselves.
Explore the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and their connecting structures. A separate head-and-neck model adds sectional views, selectable layers, air and food pathways, and a swallowing demonstration.
BUILDINGS
Explore architecture through whole models, cutaways and structural layers. Reveal the framework beneath a roof, inspect an interior or study how different parts form a building.
The gallery also includes an animated ant nest, showing another kind of architecture beneath the ground.
EXPLANATIONS BUILT IN
Every entry includes a Details view explaining the current model. Formulas, measurements, sources and colour keys provide context, while the accompanying text explores what a shape causes, demonstrates or helps us understand.
DESIGNED FOR IPHONE
A landscape workspace gives models room to breathe. Drag to rotate, pinch to zoom and reset the view whenever you need. Browse a searchable catalogue and use simple controls tailored to each exhibit.
Models, images and explanations are included in the app for offline exploration.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
61 models are free to explore. One purchase permanently unlocks the remaining collection on iPhone, with no subscription.
Existing Model Room Complete purchases can be restored. The iPhone purchase does not unlock the Vision Pro version.
