Very helpful
A few tweaks would be helpful (e.g. ability to add multiple people to one interaction, see overlap between groups, add company names as an organizing field)
Best app to manage networking
Easy to use, but buggy
Amazing for keeping in touch
Good but so close to great
User interface is beautiful! Definitely makes me want to keep coming back.
The search/people tab is nice and simple. I like the fact it displays the last interaction. But make it more easy to scan. Scrolling through the names is hard to do as all the small white text just blends together. Maybe try separating with boxes, colors, italics, etc. Also maybe small color boxes based on length of time since last interaction: Green is 1-6 days. Yellow is 7-13 days. Orange is 14-28 days. Red is 29+ days. Something like that.
The history tab is also nice, but it’d be so great if you could switch views to a list view that shows a full history, in chronological order, of all messages...split up by days. So for example, it has March 1st with 3 entries listed. Then February 28th with 2 entries. And so on.
Reminder tabs is darn near perfect.
Profile tab is also very good. I like the pinned bio. I like that the reminder pops up next, then interactions. I wish you could add custom interaction types (ie Text, Facebook message, Instagram, Etc.). Also clicking that three dot menu button gets old. I wish there were + signs that we could tap instead.
Your swipe to delete function is kind of frustrating because the whole page wants to swipe down to close every time. It needs to be less sensitive.
And finally, my last concern is with the price. $10/month is too high for this service. I pay $11/month for a Disney+ and Hulu subscription (for both) that keeps peace in my house by entertaining my child and my wife and I. That’s for access to tons of movies and TV shows for the same price as your simple service.
I would rather pay $3/month...maybe $5 for the fixes I’ve requested and future improvements. There’s a competitor of yours that offers these things for a 1 time charge of $25. Their software just isn’t near as pretty as yours.
Just something to think about. Best of luck!
Missing an iPad App
Well designed UI, No data export
I can't use a networking app that has no export and no back-up.
Update 11/15/2019 - Really disappointed to see subscription fees added and still no export functionality. Some free alternative apps are offering better features.
Response from developer
[Updated 11/21/2019] We've now added the ability to export / back up your data via CSV within the settings of the app. You can also delete your account as well. We made the decision to charge a subscription fee to sustain development of the application. However, if the $4.99/mo is too expensive we offer a student discount that we can gladly offer you (even if you aren't a student). Just contact us via the settings of the app and we'll make it happen. Thanks for trying us out!
Fixed for iOS 13
Response from developer
Thanks so much for being a user! Happy to let you know that we've fixed the issue :) Feel free to email us if you are still facing this (support@aloa.co)
Interesting start
- backups
- file manager access through Mac (e.g. to get CSV export data)
- clarity on where data is being stored. Is it only on my device (not uploaded) or are there privacy concerns.
- companion app on Mac along with sync. Perhaps use the new marzipan functionality.
Response from developer
Hey jmstacey, Happy to report that we've added backups (export via CSV) to the app. A web version is currently on the way as well so you will be able to edit your data on any platform (and export this data as well). Data is stored and encrypted on our secure servers (HIPPA compliant servers to give you an idea of the level of security). We do not sell your data to anyone and have no plans on doing so. We monetize via a paid subscription within the app to sustain development. We have also added the ability to delete your account very easily within the settings page (as well as export your data) at any time. We are very open to further suggestions on how to improve privacy/data ownership for our users, feel free to reach out!
Nice clean app
A few feature suggestions:
- import contacts (even if just 1-by-1
- LinkedIn import or sync to update photos and contact info
- add calendar events and/or syncing
Love the simplicity. One feature request.
For instance, I would love to (maybe in a separate tab to delineate new vs. current contacts) keep track of how/when I message family and friends. Because the reminders aspect is so useful.
Anyways, keep up the good work.
