What's New in Money Journal

10.0.10

April 2, 2026

Money Journal has been completely redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up — new look, new engine, same commitment to keeping your finances private. HERE'S WHAT'S NEW Redesigned from scratch Every screen has been rethought. A cleaner layout, smoother navigation, and a modern interface that makes managing your budget feel effortless. If you've been with us since the beginning, this will feel like a brand new app — because it is. Plan before you spend Create your full monthly budget before the month begins. Set income, fixed expenses, flexible spending, and savings goals — then track how reality compares to your plan throughout the month. Wallets Organize your money into dedicated wallets — checking, savings, emergency fund, or however you manage your finances. Closing balances carry forward automatically, so your plan always reflects where you actually stand. Flexible billing cycles Not everything runs on a monthly clock. Set each income and expense on its own schedule — daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Recurring transactions generate automatically. AI receipt scanning Point your camera at a receipt and let Money Journal do the rest. The amount, category, and details are filled in automatically — so logging expenses takes seconds, not minutes. CSV and statement import Import transactions from bank statements and CSV files directly into your budget. Reconcile your planned spending against actuals without manual entry. Smarter insights See your cash flow at a glance. Dive into spending by category, review monthly and yearly summaries, and spot patterns before they become problems. Still private. Still yours. No bank account linking. No third-party data access. No ads. Everything lives on your device and syncs only when you choose. Your financial data belongs to you. Thank you for budgeting with Money Journal. We'd love to hear what you think — leave a review or reach out to us anytime.

Fold redesign

The new interface is terrible. The old UI when it was still fold worked so much better. This new version doesn’t allow for carryover of excess expenses or of excess budget. You can only make top ups or expenses on the front page not within each category like you could before which makes using the app clunky and slow. The only good part kept was the subcategories within the envelopes but even that is pay walled even though i spent money on the lifetime access in the past.

Terrible update

Under the fold app the budget tracker was great. After rebranding to Money Journal they completely botched and ruined the app. Absolutely hate it.
Their FLEXIBLE expenses doesn’t allow you to rollover and it only allows monthly budget tracking (as opposed to including annual and weekly too).
Meaning it’s useless for me as I need both
Hate the upgrade. Will download a different one and hope I can get a refund on this.

Pretty cool

Liking the themes and the customization.

Love it

Been looking for a budget app for the cash envelope system only started with this one in the New Year but so far so good.
Mainly wanted it for the cash envelope budget system. The app is absolutely fantastic love how you can set your own categories, colours and themes…. Cash budget legend whoever designed this exactly what I have been looking for! Thank you

Misleading

Shows as free but after a few days it locks you out of features and accounts you created. Find a better app that’s not trying to mislead you with sneaky marketing tactics.
