Always crashing, great gameplay!

One of the best designed fitness games but crashes constantly. Unlike other fitness apps, the gameplay is actually entertaining! Most fitness “games” are so dull there is no motivation to actually play them. Monster Walk’s gameplay isn’t amazing, but it is just good enough to keep me coming back.

Unfortunately, the app crashes a LOT! Collecting resources, assigning the active party, viewing newly captured monsters, and upgrading monsters all have a 50% chance of crash. Changing maps or viewing my base has a 50% chance of freezing. App startup is also slow, so each crash wastes a lot of time.

Played on iPhone SE 2nd Generation

The only bright side is the game also has a 50% chance of working as intended, so it is possible to progress.

I’m still giving a positive review because if they fix all the crashing, the gameplay could make this the best fitness game in the app store.

Walking steps earns energy to capture monsters, explore levels, and harvest resources for more exploration and base building.

Combat is a mix of shoot-em-up and walking steps. Some monsters are easier to fight by shooting and others by walking. Choosing which captured monsters to assign to active party grants special attacks and combat bonuses/penalties depending on type of opponent. Special attacks are diverse, although not equally useful.

During shoot-em-up gameplay, player avatar is hidden under player’s finger on screen, so is frustrating to see how close incoming hazards are. Should allow position offset for avatar so it doesn’t have to be hidden right under my thumb.

I adore this game but it doesn’t always run smoothly, a lot of times I have to constantly swipe out of the game or it pretty much crashes and I can’t do anything besides go between pages I don’t know what’s happening with it but it is kinda annoying.

Cool game but …

I have had many issues with bugs like loading things in or quests not being tracked correctly, even if I’m connected to WiFi. Maybe take an look into it

Constantly crashing

I really like the concept and art, the monster system is really fun! But the game is completely broken, I can’t move between the main stage and the daily stage without the game crashing. I can’t switch between the base and the game stage without crashing. I can’t build new buildings in the base without the game crashing.

Great game, very buggy

Hi there, love the concept of the game and general gameplay. However, whenever I go to upgrade a structure at the camp the game becomes unplayable - I can continue to navigate between the lower bar menu but I can’t move the character on the tile, can’t collect rewards. After a few minutes it becomes normal again but not before all the pop ups for the buttons I pressed during the few minutes suddenly appears…almost like a 3 to 5 minute lag.

Please fix this!

Almost there

I like the game. I really do. It’s a great way to utilize my steps as a source of currency. My wife has to go on frequent walks and I’ve recommended this to her to make them more entertaining.

Having said that, there is something wonky with the base. I am stuck on the hypnostriker level because I can’t get my base quest working at all. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. I’ve restarted. I’ve tried on and off WiFi. It shows the option to build or upgrade but just sits there when I click. And since those are tied into level progression, I’m stuck. I’m also losing steps every day because I can’t store them properly and I can’t progress to use them. This is on an iPhone 16 pro.

Holding out hope for the next update to help.

Great game, just still a WIP

I absolutely adore this game and its style. There are a lot of bugs that still need to be resolved, and it can be quite difficult to progress because things won’t load or appear, especially in the base segment, but I do like this game

I like it, but it’s really wobbly

I really really enjoyed the game that is the predecessor to this one, and I was very excited to try Monster Walk when it dropped last year. I think it is a super fun game, I love the idea, and it makes a huge difference in my daily step count. I really like all the features and changes that have been added in to this app compared to Where They Live. My only problem is I have had issues with this app working properly from the very beginning. Sometimes I delete it, wait an update or two, and come back. But I am still experiencing crashes and quite a few game breaking bugs, such as my vaults disappearing when trying to build or upgrade them, etc. Still a fan, still love the concept, but really hoping it becomes consistently playable soon.

Hopelessly buggy

I initially enjoyed the game, but it is now completely unplayable due to an ever increasing number of bugs.

Needs work

Early on, it was fun. A bit light on plot, but fun. Now that I’m several stages and days in, the bugs are starting to show. Daily challenges do not reset (so once you clear them, that’s pretty much it); daily rewards don’t always double if you watch an add (the 14 day monster reward in particular); and increasingly things start bugging out. Trying to upgrade spots in the base, or even just harvesting them, can cause them to ‘disappear’. Which then means that overworld travel is likely to start bugging. To the point that closing the app and restarting is that only way to do anything. And then it happens again. And again. And again. What began as a fun game, I’m starting to regret playing. Hopefully the devs fix these issues soon.

Cute, but glitches

Recently, moving to a new tile will not mark it as activated and the app freezes. I can usually fix it by closing it and opening the app again

Constantly Quits

This game keeps quitting for no reason. Not seeing anyone else mention that here so maybe it’s just my phone?? Hoping it’s something about the game that can be fixed though. I want to keep playing because any game that can get me up off the couch to move irl is worth playing.

Intrigued but Buggy

Really wanted to like this game. Interesting and weird storyline but mostly I loved the steps as battle and as ways to move. But repeatedly froze and jumped around and restarted the app.

Good idea but buggy

I was really enjoying the idea of this game! Unfortunately, I have to delete because a bug wouldn’t let me progress. I’m stuck on saving the storm siren mission, except there is no storm siren to save. She is nowhere on the map, so I’m stuck and cannot progress. I think it may have bugged out when I ran away from a monster instead of fighting. The monster has not re-appeared since. If some bugs get fixed this would be a solid game!

Never working

I finished the campaign even through all the glitches and loading time and generally had fun but a glitch/bug erased all my progress and get nothing back. Not even basic things to play anymore. You simply cant play this game the way it’s supposed to.
