What's New in MoodReads

1.0.19

October 7, 2026

a big one - thank you for every bug report and every "hey this is weird" - your taste page lives in the app now. see what you told us, fix anything that's off, and decide whether MoodReads learns from you - dnf'ing or finishing a book asks why (optional, private). tap the reasons that fit and move on - "that's wrong" on any BookMatch reason, plus "don't learn from this book" for the ones you hate-read - new moods: playful, inspired, relieved, busy, nostalgic, sick and easy - the spice index shows all 7 levels - series show up in reading order, even the books we only know by title - your moon taps and familiars sync between web and the app - imports are sturdier, and when something goes wrong it tells you what in plain words - basic manual placeholders are free - sign-in is faster and your session stays encrypted on your phone - new analytics + privacy page in settings, so you decide whether google analytics sees how you use the app - fixed a crash that could happen while a screen was closing go read something good

Best App for Romance Readers

This is hands down the best and most used app I have. It has helped up my reading game so much and I’m never having to scour the internet for the right book again. The developer is also incredibly invested and kind and has responded to every single feature request! The aesthetics of the app are cozy and calming, the amount of data on each book is massive including spice levels, tropes, CW, and community notes. Truly 10/10 recommend!

thank you girly, you are a gem 🥲💜

A great app for sussing out spice!

I love this app! I am a low to no spice reader and this has helped IMMENSELY in picking books and cultivating my tbr. I cannot wait to see more titles added and the database expand. I also enjoy the cute phrasing everywhere and very pointed design, lovely!

thank you so much, I’m glad you’re loving it!! adding more books daily :)

Better and better

This app is a little glitchy but ultimately the best I’ve found so far for this area!! Excited to see how it improves and progresses!

Response from developer

hiii! thank you so much for this, seriously, made my day. the glitchy bits are real BUT i'm on them every single day - fixes are going out steadily, so keep updating and it should keep feeling smoother and more enjoyable to use. if you hit anything weird, please send it my way (bug report in the app or jenny@moodreads.app) with what you were doing when it happened. straight to the top of the list! so glad you found us 💜

Love the idea

I really love the idea behind this app, I just I wish it wasn’t limited to romantasy titles. If a wider range of genres get added I would definitely use this to help me keep track of what books I want to read based on my mood!

Response from developer

hii :) thank you for this, it means a lot!! every book gets tagged across 50 fields (spice, pacing, tropes, content warnings, all of it) and that only works if i stay narrow and go deep, i'm just a girl 😂 i'd rather do one genre properly than ten genres badly. that said, i hear this a lot and i'm not ruling anything out. if you read romantasy even a little, come play, and if not, no hard feelings 💜 p.s. sneak peek for the next update: you can already do this on the web app - sync your GR or SG and your whole library comes over now. every genre! anything we don't carry yet lives privately on your shelves and counts in your stats. butttt give me some time (and some help lmao) to get them all tagged 😁

Love the spice, mood, trope ratings

Exactly what I needed to simplify my TBR

Response from developer

hey :) yay! simplifying the tbr is the entire reason moodreads exists, so this is especially rewarding to hear. happy reading 💜
