About

Morning Readiness gives you one honest number each morning: a 0–100 readiness score built from your overnight recovery — and it shows you exactly how it got there. No coaching. No subscription. No black box. Just the signal. HOW IT WORKS Each morning, Morning Readiness reads three things from Apple Health and compares them to your own personal baseline: • Heart Rate Variability (HRV) — your overnight SDNN versus your normal range • Resting Heart Rate — an elevated resting pulse pulls the score down • Sleep — last night's time asleep, as a light modifier Every input is shown as signed points, so you always see why your score is what it is — not just the number. TRANSPARENT BY DESIGN Most recovery apps hand you a score and ask you to trust it. Morning Readiness does the opposite: • See each input's contribution, broken out point by point • Scored against YOUR baseline, not population averages • A confidence level on every reading • When there isn't enough data to be honest, it shows no score — it never invents one HONEST ABOUT DATA Apple Watch records HRV only occasionally — mostly during sleep and Breathe sessions — so some nights are sparse. Morning Readiness surfaces that coverage instead of hiding it, and tells you how much to trust each morning's number. GROUNDED IN RESEARCH The way your score weighs HRV, resting heart rate, and sleep is based on peer-reviewed research. Tap "How it works & sources" on the Today screen to read the citations behind every input. TRENDS Watch your recovery move over time with clean 7- and 30-day charts. Spot the toll of a hard week or a cold coming on before you feel it. WIDGETS & APPLE WATCH • Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets in every size • Your score at a glance on your iPhone • A companion Apple Watch app and complications — your readiness right on your wrist PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Your health data is read on-device and never leaves your iPhone. No account. No cloud. No tracking. — Morning Readiness requires an Apple Watch that records heart rate and HRV, and is for general wellness and fitness use only. It is not a medical device, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Talk to a qualified healthcare provider about any health concerns.

What's New in Morning Readiness

July 29, 2026

One theme this time: your score shows up on its own, and every screen agrees on what it is. YOUR SCORE ARRIVES BY ITSELF The Apple Watch app now delivers each morning's score to your iPhone in the background. Wake up, glance at a widget — the number is already there, even if you haven't opened either app. IPHONE AND WATCH NOW AGREE Every screen, widget, and complication now answers the same question: does today have a score? An older reading can still appear, but only labeled as what it is — "Yesterday 71" — never dressed up as this morning's number. CLEARER WHILE YOU WAIT When last night's data hasn't reached your iPhone yet, Today now says it's waiting for your watch to sync — instead of a bare "no data" that reads like something went wrong. Also fixed: a rare case where two parts of the app saving at the same moment could drop a morning from your history, and a hiccup where a queued score could fail to send from the watch after a connection dropped.
