The app only works for big city marathons. You have to send an email to ask them to put in an event for you if it’s not one of the big city marathons. You get an email update saying “your event will be added in 48-72 hours,” and it never is. Research other apps because this one is a waste of time.

Crashed continuously

Just finished Boston and cannot hear 205 cheers that were left for me. Huge 👎👎👎👎👎 dampener on such a great day. Would’ve loved to hear my loved ones.

Not intuitive at all

First you need to fix whatever your differences are with FaceBook. Not being able to post a link made getting the message out to send cheers real difficult. Also add a web based way to cheer.
I suggest changing the interface to find the runner first. Then the race. Then the date.
It took me a while to figure out why my race kept going away. Then I saw the little tiny date up in the corner.
For my friends who did figure it out, the cheers came through as promised

App disconnects every 10 minutes

This app is a waste of time. Fortunately I tracked my run on another app just in case this one failed. Poor quality...maybe it’s an issue of too many users on same day. Whatever it was they did not live up to expectations for 2020 MCM.

Amazing idea, total disaster

I love this idea, the execution is terrible. We got 60+ cheers recorded for my boyfriend’s virtual marathon and he could only listen to two of them before the app crashed. And I’m sorry, while you’re running you don’t want to be fiddling around with your phone trying to get your cheers to work. We did everything right when we recorded, it wasn’t user error (I read through the help section before to double check). So disappointing. I should have just figured out a way to do this myself instead of wasting my time on this garbage app.

Not yet perfect

So I’m a huge fan of whoever is in charge here. They added my half marathon so quickly and we’re so on point with helping me. However the app crashed at mile 3. Being in a pandemic and not being able to run my first half marathon with a crowd was a bummer and I thought that this was going to be the saving grace. I would suggest a couple things: don’t make people register to cheer, I had a couple people just not figure it out who would have cheered me on. And please fix the whole crashing problem, I’ve seen this on a couple other posts. It might be because I was running different apps, but those didn’t crash and yours did. I was able to listen to all the cheers I missed after which was nice but it truly would have been better if the app didn’t crash. (Or if you can’t fix the crash problem please allow us to listen to the cheers we didn’t hear, not rehear the cheers from mile one when we start it over. Thanks for the app though it did make my experience better!

Amazing for virtual races!!

I used Motigo today to (virtually) run the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in DC. It was SO easy to use, and I had over 45 “cheers” for my race! Hearing voices from VA, DC, NJ, ME, and Germany made my run so much more inspired, and my friends and family were so happy to have a way to connect with me from a distance in these difficult times. HIGHLY recommend!

Great concept, poor execution

I downloaded the app for a marathon in a new city and was excited to have cheers from friends and family who couldn’t be there in person. Unfortunately, the app crashed after 2 miles and I wasn’t able to hear them until the end. I had a terrible race day, which would have been true whether the app worked or not, but I would at least have had some company in the misery.

Great concept, no execution!

Love the concept of this app. Downloaded it for the Marine Corps Marathon, but it crashed after mile 2, so I barely got any of the messages my family left for me.

Would be great...

...if the messages didn’t stop playing after mile 5 of the Marine Corps Marathon for me. I had a really rough race and could have used those messages from my friends. Thankful I could still listen to them afterwards but really sad they didn’t play at the mile markers after mile 5. Thankful to have been able to listen to them prior to mile 5 though.

Help!

Just got this app to use at MCM in Oct 27 ... question: does the cheer play over my music that I plan to listen to along the way???

Amazing.

This app is amazing. I started promoting it to my friends about two weeks before my race. By the day of my marathon, I had 254, 30 second, messages waiting for me. It was absolutely amazing to hear my friends and family talk to me while I was running. I laughed and cried and was INSPIRED. In the five hours I had of running, TWO of those hours were spent smiling because of my friends and family. I cannot express to you how powerful these words were to me during this long and difficult race.

Several of my friends said this app drains your battery, but I did not have an issue with it. On my iPhone 8 I ran Garmin Connect, and iTunes along with it. I started at 100% and finished at 42% five hours later. I took a spare battery pack with me just in case, but it was not necessary.

Your friends and family love you, so they want to talk to you during the race. Many will SING! My friends enjoyed this almost as much as I did!

Thank you, Motigo!

Amazing people behind the app

I have planned to use this app for two half marathons and the support and email correspondence from the creators has been amazing. They are always able to answer my questions and they go above and beyond for their customers. I recommend this app to every runner i know and i will again use it with future races!

This app is brilliant

This made race day so much better. Thank you so much. It really makes a world of difference to hear the voices of your loved ones when pushing yourself. It buoys you up.

Must try this app!

I used this app because the Marine Corps Historic Half suggested it. I had never heard of it. The Historic Half was my first half marathon and I wanted to get the most out of it. Before I left to drive to packet pick up, I stopped at my local Apple Store to get a battery case for my IPhone 8. I knew that with pictures and this app running, that Apple battery would not hold up. I signed up for Motigo and sent the link to my family so they could record. I like that they could record from the website without having the app, but it seemed they still had to sign up?? Not sure if this is correct or I just misunderstood. Anyway, I recorded my own motivational talk at various miles markers as did my sister. The Historic Half event also preloaded recordings. During the run, they played loud and clear and were not too far off from the mileage points for which they were meant to play. I used to listen to public radio while I ran but stopped about 5 months ago and this app will really help to break up the run and pump me up! I highly recommend it!! There were no problems and it worked as stated. Try it!!

No magic. Crashed on mile 2 of my Marathon. Still crashes. Can't here my 118 cheers

Incredibly disappointing. I told so many of my friends about this app and even purchased the unlimited cheers version for $5. My friends and family recorded 118 cheers for me for my first Boston Marathon I was running in memory of my mom. Big day to day the least. I tried reopening the app on mile 10 and once I press start event it just closes. Once I got home, I restarted my phone. Same thing. Tried searching everywhere for help/support contact. No where to be found in the app or website. When you click app support or just brings you to the home page... But there is no contact info there. I still really want to listen to my cheers but don't know who to ask for help. I used this app once before and thought it was great, now I'm 50/50 :( please help.

Great app to run with!

What a treat to hear thoughtful messages during a (possibly very difficult) run. I heard messages from my my family and friends that was just what I needed to help me get to the end of the finish line. I highly recommend.

Great App but a warning

I used this app during the Austin half marathon because it was free and LOVED it. It was so nice to have cheers from friends and family as I ran. Heads up though for all of your non-apple friends...anyone who left me a cheer via iPhone it worked perfectly. Anyone who tried to leave me a cheer via the google play app- it never went through. The confirmation screen to send cheer would never even come up. That was disappointing. But if that is worked out, I will definitely be using this again, even if I have to pay for it!

Apple Watch compatibility

Please make compatible with the watch. I don’t like to run with my phone anymore since the new Apple Watch can play music.

Absolutely made my race!

I ran my first marathon in September; not only did the course offer limited crowd support, but I traveled out of state to run, so it had the potential to be very lonely. I'm so glad I found Motigo, though, because it was like having my own personal cheering section at every single mile. I laughed and cried and smiled the biggest smiles as my friends and family sang to me, cheered for me, and encouraged me. I had a phenomenal first marathon experience and I genuinely believe Motigo played a huge role in that. Absolutely download this app for your next race.
