User reviews

Switched to ManaBox

This app used to be the bomb however I recently updated versions and now can no longer view card images nor update card database without a paid “premium” subscription. There is nothing premium about a paid app that functions worse than a free one. Just my 2 cents.

Used to be good

I had been using this for many many years and it worked well. Now with a paid subscription, it seems they are trying just cash in. Easier just to leave a tab open on my phone of tcg player to do the same thing this does for free.

Now Paywalled

Moved to subscription, now not usable after purchasing the app. Terrible.

Response from developer

I'm sorry you feel this way. I want to be upfront about why it happened: maintaining the app means ongoing costs I didn't have years ago: database updates, server hosting, and keeping up with each new iOS release. I've been supporting this app for every new magic set for 16 years. Paid-up-front sales weren't covering those costs anymore, so the choice was subscription or shutting it down. The core app you originally bought still works, and the subscription only gates the features that have ongoing costs behind them. I appreciate you having supported the app early on, and I'm sorry this change has soured the experience.

Lost confidence

Purchased the app and it was working well until they offered subscription and removed basic functionalities that made it great

Scummy developer abusing long time paid user base

I’ve been a paid user of this app since at least 2019. The developer recently migrated free openly available data on the internet, hosted by Wizards, behind a paid subscription model.

The only reason for this change is greed of the developer. Spend your money elsewhere.
