Anyone using mumble in the year 2026 needs to install NOW
I’ve been stuck on the old official iOS Mumble app for years because that’s what everyone on our servers still uses. It works… sort of. Ugly UI, weird reconnect behavior, settings buried in the wrong places, PTT that fights you, the whole “this was designed for an iPhone 5” vibe. I kept it around out of habit, not because I liked it.
Mumblers is the first one that actually feels like someone sat down and thought about how people use this protocol on a phone in 2026. Connecting to a server is straightforward. Favorites don’t fight you. Channel tree is readable. PTT and VAD don’t feel like afterthoughts. The flows just make sense — you tap the thing you expect to tap and it does the thing you expect.
Audio quality has been solid on the same servers I already use. No mystery dropouts so far, and it doesn’t feel like I’m fighting the interface every time I switch channels or whisper someone.
If you’ve been putting up with the old app because “it still works,” try this one. It’s the first time I’ve opened a Mumble client on iOS and thought “oh, they actually designed this.” Highly recommend.
