About
Museo turns six centuries of painting into a jigsaw puzzle.
Every puzzle in Museo is a real artwork. Not stock photography, not generated images - actual masterpieces from the history of European art, rebuilt one piece at a time. And when you finish one, you find out what you just put together: who painted it, roughly when, and what they were reaching for.
FIVE SIZES, EVERY PAINTING
You choose the challenge. Any artwork can be played at any size.
- 10 pieces, for a few unhurried minutes
- 20 pieces, a short sitting
- 30 pieces, the standard board
- 50 pieces, a proper session
- 80 pieces, when you want the detail work
Start easy on a painting you already love. Come back later and rebuild it at 80 pieces, when you know where every brushstroke goes.
SIX CENTURIES IN ONE COLLECTION
The library runs from the 1300s to the 1800s - the long arc from the first Italian Renaissance workshops to the Symbolists and dreamers at the close of the nineteenth century.
- The Italian Renaissance, where perspective and human anatomy were being worked out in public
- The High Renaissance and its most famous faces, the Mona Lisa among them
- The Baroque, with its hard light and deep shadow
- Rococo and Neoclassicism, from ornament to austerity
- Romanticism, where landscape turned dramatic and weather became a subject
- The Impressionists, painting light instead of outline
- The Symbolists and dreamers, where painting turned inward toward myth and vision
Assembling a picture is a slower kind of looking. You notice a hand, a fold of cloth, the strange colour in a corner of the sky - things that slide past when you only glance at a painting.
EVERY WORK COMES WITH ITS STORY
Each artwork carries a short introduction to the artist and the piece. Who made it. When. What was happening around them. Enough to place the painting in its century without turning the game into a lecture.
You will finish a puzzle and know something you did not know before. That is the point.
A QUIETER KIND OF PUZZLE GAME
No timer counting down in the corner. No lives to lose. No board that resets because you were too slow. A painting, a pile of pieces, and however long you want to spend on it.
The difficulty is yours to set. A 10-piece board fits inside a coffee break. An 80-piece board is an evening. Nothing in the game decides that for you, and nothing pushes you to hurry.
