What's New in Musical Demon's Impulse

We’ve taken our professional acoustic engine and refined it for perfect real‑world performance, ensuring your captures are as accurate, readable, and perfectly aligned as possible. Here’s what changed: Frequency‑Banded Coherence Metering – A single broadband phase number hides comb filtering. We’ve replaced it with a real‑time, magnitude‑squared coherence meter split into Low (20–250 Hz), Mid (250–2 kHz), and High (2–20 kHz) bands. Now you can instantly see phase alignment and frequency cancellations when blending dual microphones. Universal IR Compatibility – While our internal deconvolution math remains flawlessly 64‑bit, we now dynamically downcast the final exports to standard 32‑bit float WAVs. Say goodbye to unreadable files and static-filled previews; your IRs are now instantly compatible with any DAW, IR loader, or profiling amp. Sample‑Accurate Latency Compensation – A new cross‑correlation alignment routine analyzes your capture and detects the exact sample where the sweep begins, perfectly syncing the recorded room response with the mathematical reference for artifact‑free deconvolution. Bit‑Perfect Reference Matching – The math engine now dynamically ingests the exact playback buffer emitted by your iOS hardware, eliminating precision mismatches between what the math expected and what your speaker actually played. Automated Peak Normalization – Extracted impulse responses are now automatically peak‑normalized to -1 dBFS immediately following the inverse FFT. Your IRs are now staged at the optimal volume for immediate, out-of-the-box use. The result: An impulse response capture tool that doesn’t just do the math perfectly, but guarantees an instantly usable, universally compatible, and phase-accurate profile every single time.
