This app was okay until Yamaha ended support for Alexa / Google smart speakers this month and it’s the entire reason I bought into this ecosystem.
Shame on Yamaha for bait and switching customers out of their hard earned money.

Super connectivity
Have multiple zones of control as well as vintage analog gear connected. It handles everything amazingly well. I’m in control outdoors with ease. Just what I had been looking for for years, even love the continual upgrades. A must have for the control geek’s of the world!!

I have it for years and it lose connection to my wireless every time I try to use it. Would not buy again!
Great concept, but flaws
I love the MusicCast system and ability to control my system from my phone. The Yamaha receiver, however, has terribly limited Bluetooth range (the same devices that work great distances with other sources only reach a few feet with the Yamaha), and the receiver can’t tune in SiriusXM extra channels.

Having the ability to control my whole house sound from the palm of my hand is absolutely amazing. Not once not twice not three times but more than 10 times. I’ve had my guest asked me. How are you able to do that and I tell them and able to have two different songs playing at once is even more amazing!!!

Amazing App!
Musicast is an excellent, professional-quality music app that I genuinely enjoy using. I listen to internet radio through it, stream audio from my phone and computer, and also use it with Amazon Music and Apple Music. Everything works smoothly and reliably.
What stands out most to me is the excellent sound quality. The app feels stable, well designed, and made for people who really care about music and audio quality. Switching between different sources is easy, and I have had a great experience with all of them.
For me, Musicast is a very well-made and professional application with outstanding sound quality. Highly recommended!

iPhone buttons volume control missing?
The latest update (6/4/2026) appears to have lost the ability to select using the iPhone volume buttons, to directly control the volume. Or did it move. Hours wasted trying to find that setting in your non-intuitive, various settings.
Difficult
It is so freaking difficult to choose between sources. I can’t even play from my iPhone to my stereo. This whole thing sucks.
Not user friendly
After using this software for about a year and a half in our pool house in our Landscape speakers, I have to say that it’s very frustrating to try and use this program. It’s very hard to find the volume control or get back to certain parts of the program. Every time I use it I have to try and figure out stuff for about 10 or 15 minutes and it’s very frustrating.. You folks should spend some time having somebody go through this and try to use it. That’s not very familiar with it and see how difficult it is to figure things out.. Then you should revamp it and make it much more user-friendly.

Would give 5 stars if I could still control volume on iPhone before the last firmware update. Loved using my iPhone volume buttons , so easy and convenient…

App connection to receiver continually drops. Interface is complicated and not intuitive.
