the mpe seems not woking?

I cant glide on Musix pro

Musix Pro Opened My Mind to Music Theory! Love it!

This app convinced me that I could learn music theory in my middle age. It’s fantastic at what it does and I hope it lives on forever.

It’s nice to see a developer who sticks with their creation over a long timeline. In this age of disposable apps where devs try to hit the app jackpot and then a year later it’s abandonware, Musix Pro has been around forever.

Someday, when its dev decides to retire, hopefully they can pass the torch (source code) on to another dev or the open source community. This app is too cool to get lost to history.

great app , learn scales easily

keep up the good work , you can make it even better by implementing a few changes : 1/ make it possible to rotate the grid by 45 degrés angles ( not just 90 degrés horizontally or vertically ) . 2/ make it possible to orient the grid up or down , instead of having me locking the screen then rotating my ipad . 3/ make it possible to rotate the notes letters in the hexagons by 45 degrés all the way round , so to have them correctly oriented when you rotate the grid , aka rotate the notes writing independent of the grid rotation . 4/ add a metronome . 5/ add a piano instrument .6/ give the choice to annotate notes as sharp or flat , for example i prefer to read C sharp , F sharp , but i prefer , E flat , A flat , B flat

Needs XY expression

I've had this app for years and while velocity and chords have been nice additions I don't understand how it still doesn't have basic features like pitch bend.

EDIT: Now they've removed support for split screen which kills usability with other apps on the iPad.

Great app for microtonal midi control

Hi! Thank you so much for creating and continuing to support this app! The only feature request I have is that we be able to number the individual buttons manually so that saving a preset is even more beneficial, especially when working with hyper chromatic scales.

Response from developer

Thanks for the review. I presume you want to "number" the notes with a midi value rather than use an isomorphic layout?

Musix Pro

I have had this app for several years, and always come back to it and learn something new. I particularly like the many keyboard options which are isomorphic, and use Janko and Wicki-Hayden everyday, while toying with the B and C systems from time to time. It's been great ti practice for my "real" keyboard (Striso midi controller) and my acoustic Hayden Duet Concertina. It's a treasure!

Response from developer

Thanks for the kind review. Musix Pro is a labour of love, and we hope to put add some minor improvements the near future.

Almost there

The App with the layout and customization is awesome. Sadly missing auv3 support or even IAA is more than a missed opportunity. These things are basically standards nowadays. Network midi does work on synth apps in standalone but not with AUM.
I really hope this will get added soon to bring this gorgeous app up to todays standards.
Cheers

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

Thank you for this this app it’s so amazing, Anyone looking at this thinking about purchasing it, just buy it you won’t regret it… It comes highly recommended. 👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼

Best midi controller on the App Store!

I love this thing! Best midi controller and isomorphic one too.

Isomorphic

This lets you try linnstrument, lumatone, wicki, janko, regular tuned fretboards, accordion, and custom square or rectangle or hex layouts. Being fascinated with these layouts, this app is a killer app for tablets and worth twice the price, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, not enough people share this view and development stopped years ago. The UI is clunky, documentation, unfinished, the feedback tool calls it a beta, theres interapp audio but not audio units, and no mpe or bending/sliding/glide. Midi over lan works great, but between two ipads i had missed notes. I havent tried it in AUM yet.

All that said, this is the app to buy if youre curious about isomorphic interfaces but arent ready to drop 1 to 2 thousand dollars, order 3d printed janko keys, or retune your guitar. I think the app notional keyboard has square layouts and mpe but not hex, and is twice the price but updated.

Response from developer

Thanks for the honest review Jason. You are correct in that there is soo much more we would love to do with Musix Pro, but unfortunately, the market is much too small for us to earn much more than coffee money. Hopefully one day we have the time to improve it into the app that our users and the instrument deserve.

Good in it’s day

Needs to be updated to MPE to be current.

El teclado isomórphico perfecto

Lo uso para controlar aplicaciones standalone y audiobus, y ofrece suficiente configurabilidad para cubrir casi todo lo que necesites. Agradezco mucho que tiene support para multitasking

Great!

Fantastic midi controller. Flexible. Wish it had pitch and mod wheels but otherwise fantastic!

Very Cool

Would be extra cool if it allows playing triad by pressing at a point where three keys come together. You know what I mean?

A real instrument

First music app I’ve seen that seems like a real instrument in its own right optimized for the iPhone.

Need dark theme note pattern coloring

Personally I feel it will be more fantastic if there is a color theme, where the keys are all in dark colors, while I touch it, it will be bright color. Kind of similar to the colors of those launchpad style app. Also for the existing color themes, it will be cool if touching the key triggers bright color or even some twinkling/flash effect instead of black as it is now.

Response from developer

Thanks for your review. We do recognize that the built-in audio synthesis has its shortcomings. Please connect it to one of the other amazing midi synths out there for an awesome experience.

So Close to 5 Stars.

I am overjoyed that a high-quality isomorphic keyboard app exists in the iOS ecosystem. Musix is responsive, well-designed, and thoroughly usable as a serious musical instrument given its fantastic support for MIDI, OSC, and AudioBus.

In my opinion, this app is 3 minor changes away from perfection:

- Please let me disable the "slide" between notes! The iPad touchscreen is great, but it is far too easy to mistakenly hit a second key after beginning a touch event. I don't slide between keys on a piano, I don't really ever want to do that here either!

- Musix needs a blank coloring. Blank white keys are my favorite way to play on isomorphic keyboard layouts. The rainbow coloring is distracting, and the major scale colorings are constraining for musical thought.

- I want to turn the lettering off. All that text is just unnecessary and distracting to me as I don't really think in terms of lettered notes.

Thank you so much to shiverware for making such a phenomenal tool! I recommend it to everybody who will listen.

Response from developer

Thanks for the great feedback. Text can be turned off from the #b menu. Choose Text -> None. You can turn most colors off (other than tonic) by choosing Mode -> Chromatic and Note Pattern -> Default. As for fully disabling slide/colors, we may add this to our feature list. Seems like a solid suggestion.

To many issues

The app keeps freezing and it doesn’t show how to change instruments

Response from developer

Hi Navi, Can you email support@shiverware.com so we can help? We need some information (such as device, etc) to gain insight into why you are seeing "freezing". To change instruments, just tap on the Guitar Icon, then Tap on the blue text under Internal (which shows your current setting). Also, make sure that the Internal switch is turned on.

great app, easy to use

makes it easy to lay down some bass or keys that sound great. support is quick and responsive too. thanks again, looking forward to future updates.

The Innovation string players have been waiting for.

The boards are laid out in a way that makes them fun and surprisingly ez to play. It just all seems to click together really well to make an outstanding instrument. I far prefer this to traditional linear keyboards. I know I’m not the only string player who understands the concept of a linear keyboard but doesn’t enjoy rocking one because something doesn’t mesh. Personally I think in terms of circles musically and this app gives me the extra dimensional aspect to provide me with circles to look at. This app makes my iPad feel less like a sequencer and more like a traditional instrument. It’s I pretty neat controller that way, but the real power behind this app is that it is literally a sort of archetype or template for every song you could ever want to write. This is hands down the writers most powerful tool, even if you’re a writer that has your theory memorized or well understood there is certainly going to be an idea that this app can help you inspire to write. This isn’t the one to be cheap about 10 bucks on. This app is very innovative and should be funded along to enrich our musical / technical foundation in this growing industry/ hobby market. If you mad it doesn’t have its own sounds, don’t be, this isn’t that sort of design. Sounds are dime a dozen. This is a whole new keyboard concept where your finger shape positioning never needs to change to create new chords, this makes arpeggiating and chord progression a cake walk to navigate thru manually even at faster tempos rt on your iPad screen. It’s awesome ¡ These devs are fast at responding if you need even the stupidest help like I did too. I’m really excited about this app and that’s why I’m giving the best review I can. Im hoping to see continued development over the course of my lifetime on this one... DONT OUTDATE MY KEYBOARD PLZ !!!!!!!
