About

My Piggie Bank is where a kid learns to manage money — by actually managing some. Every dollar they get is theirs to make a decision about: keep it, bank it, spend it, or set some aside. The app shows what each choice does, and the lesson lands because the money is real and the consequences are their own. YOU ARE THE BANK The app holds no money — you do. The cash stays wherever your family already keeps it: a jar, a wallet, or a grown-up's pocket. What My Piggie Bank keeps is the record. A kid can hand you a $20 note to look after and still see, any day they like, that it is theirs, where it is, and what it is growing into. No real bank account, no card, no sign-up, and nothing connected to anybody's finances. BUDGETING THEY CAN SEE Money lives in three places, and a kid moves it between them: • With Me — cash in their pocket, easy to spend • In the Bank — handed to a grown-up to look after, and still theirs to watch • Set Aside — reserved automatically, before they get the chance to spend it It is envelope budgeting, sized for a seven-year-old. When they try to spend more than a bucket holds, the app does not simply refuse: it says how much is actually there and offers to move money across. The limit teaches instead of frustrating. PAY YOURSELF FIRST Pick a percentage of everything coming in that gets reserved automatically, and decide what it is for. Presets ship for Tithe, Investing, Long-Term Savings and Giving — rename it, change the symbol, adjust the percentage, reword the button. Kids watch the split happen on every single deposit, so the habit forms long before the vocabulary does. COUNTING REAL MONEY Tap out actual coins and bills, penny through $100, drawn at true relative sizes — a dime really is smaller than a penny. Counting out change is the first money skill there is, and here it is a math lesson hiding inside a game. SAVING TOWARD SOMETHING Set a goal — a bike, headphones, a telescope — and watch the bar fill as the balance grows. Delayed gratification is hard to explain and easy to feel. When the money is finally there, "I bought it!" records the purchase and closes the goal out. SEEING THEIR OWN HABITS Charts show their total over time, money in versus money out week by week, and where the spending actually went by category — over a month, a quarter, a year, or all time. Kids are usually surprised by the treats column. That surprise is the lesson. REWARDED FOR KEEPING, NOT GETTING Thirty-eight badges across six categories, with a weekly streak. Nearly all reward holding on to money rather than receiving it: a week without spending, still having three quarters of everything you were ever given, the $1,000 Thousand Club. ALLOWANCE AND A BANK BONUS Set a weekly allowance paid automatically on the day you choose, and an optional monthly bonus on whatever is sitting in the bank. Saving visibly beats spending, which is the entire point — it is compound growth, at a scale a child can actually watch happen. FOR THE GROWN-UPS A built-in How It Works guide explains the whole idea in a couple of minutes — how handing money over works, why the bank bonus matters, and who can change what. Worth reading together the first time. Every kid gets their own balance, history, goals and rewards behind a profile picker. A four-digit parent PIN protects the allowance, the bank bonus and account deletion. Kids can set their own passcode to keep a sibling out, stored only as a salted hash — never the digits. Forgotten codes are recovered with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts. No ads. No analytics. No tracking. No in-app purchases. No third-party code of any kind. My Piggie Bank has no network access at all. Everything lives in a single file on your device, and Backup & Transfer saves a copy wherever you choose — including iCloud Drive. Light and dark, following your device. Built for iPhone and iPad — and on Mac too, at no extra cost.
