Good app. Wish it had a few more features.
It’s a good app for the vast majority of the stuff I use MAL for. I do wish the app had a few of the features that the full website has. The full site’s search function is more robust with filtering options for genres, themes, and demographics. Would be nice to have natively on the app without having to basically use the mobile site via internal browser. Some adult-oriented titles don’t show up in search results on the app but will on the full site. I’m sure that’s more to do with the App Store restrictions, but a “see full site” placeholder for the title on the app would be nice. Sometimes I only know a title and assume it’s not on MAL when it’s not in the search results.
Side note: My original review was for a bug that has since been fixed. Not sure if the developer’s response remains after I make this update.

Constant Parsing Errors
Keep getting a “parsing failed” error when searching. MAL bug page says to update the app but there’s no update available.

I give 5 stars for this app but I only wish one thing, PLEASE PUT IN SPANISH!!!

It just lags a lot and constantly gets stuck and give me a network error when everything else I use is fine and working

Ehh it works I guess
My main complaints are being able to choose the English title by default, and seeing what platform(s) the titles will be available on. Another thing is I think separating complete seasons makes things more difficult they should be under one tab and be able to separate in there.

Option for notes
I like the current app, but is it possible to add the option to add/edit notes for series on our lists? Similar to the notes feature on the myanimelist website.

Improvements are necessary
‘Loading gear’ animation appears permanently on the screen while using some features in the app. This bug only gets fixed after you close the app and reopen it.
Needs work
App doesn’t launch half the time. I constantly get stuck on the startup splash page unless I delete and reinstall the app.

Super hard to log in
Logging in on this app takes like 20 minutes and is ridiculously laggy, slow and so much more to the point where longing in feels like literal torture.

I love this app—it’s genuinely amazing. So why the two-star rating if I’m saying that? Well… the performance is a big issue. The app lags a lot—and I mean, really badly. It gets especially frustrating when I’m trying to add anime to my list, only for the app to completely shut down after five minutes (or more) of use. Then I have to reload it and start over, which gets annoying fast.
I don’t think this is an issue with my phone—it’s fairly new, and all my other apps run perfectly fine. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t perform nearly as well.

Eu poderia dar 5 estrelas, mas é uma falta de respeito eles não colocarem uma versão em português. Isso nao é difícil. E outra, algo que seria útil seria recomendar animes com base no perfil.
Disappointed
When I went to go sign up I signed up through my Facebook and then did the process verifying my email. After a process when I finally got logged it agreed to terms and everything I get hit with an error saying that I can’t sign up at this time. Try again later
Nice App
The MyAnimeList iOS app works very well overall. It’s clean, stable, and does exactly what you expect if you want to track anime and manga. Navigation is smooth and the core features of the site translate nicely to the mobile experience.
The only real limitation I’ve noticed is that a small number of more explicit titles don’t appear in the app’s search or database, even though they exist on the website. Examples include titles like A Kite, Angel, or Urotsukidoji. From what I understand, this is due to Apple’s App Store content policies rather than a decision by MyAnimeList itself.
In practice, this affects only a tiny portion of the catalog. The vast majority of anime entries are available and work perfectly in the app. Aside from that restriction, the application functions reliably and is a very convenient way to manage your MAL list on iPhone.
